Unless its a serious track car dont strip it and take your sub out before you get to the track - i have a sub and amp and i enjoy my music but when i got to track the car the night before it will be taken out

Also im looking at getting a stage 2 Exospeed cam and a Adjustable cam gear from the states with my tax money that should make the car abit more fun to drive hehe - i also have to finish wraping my Hi-Tech Exhaust manifold...

Get the engine for sure Quang. I did my power mods before I started anything else. Get your car running the way you want then you can worry about looks down the track. Better to be all go and no show then all show and no go trust me. Most people don't rate my car until I pop the bonnet. Same goes for people at the lights they think its nothing until they here that turbo spooling up. Puts a big smile on my face everytime. Rims and other stuff can always wait. Just my opinion though.

yea, the engine will be much more worth it at the moment. you've got some decent handling mods already for the street. the upgraded suspension will be more of a factor down the road when you track it more often.

LOL, don't cable tie the brake line man. The GAB b/line mount is seperated so you can slot the line thru and then put them together with some vice-grip pliers.

It's not necessary.

I've raced with numerous Honda's in Summer and none of them have posed an over-heating issue. And we're talking modified B/K series with higher output so the D-series should be fine.

there my mates. just running them at the front. the hang outside my guards roughly 7mm or so but since i've got the damper they dont hit my guards unless i speed through a noticeable bump in the road.

will be sourcing my rims out soon when money builds up again.

Its has been a long time since i've UPDATED this thread/

Things are slightly getting back on track, currently prepping the car for track day
got around 5 weeks to get it ready. (november 2nd)
and 6 weeks until i leave for my holiday. (november 12th)

just ordered a few parts will post up pics when i receive it.

I know my build has slowed completely to a stand still over these last few weeks.....well i think its time that i get back into it.
so i've been doing a little bit of shopping for my car whilst working my ass off for my holiday. Track day is around the corner so i've been trying to organise the car so that it performs just the way i want it to on the day. This is where i went just a bit too far and couldn't control the impulse buys.

Also, it seems that i have developed a yellow addiction.....

As track day nears, i made a tight budget that would allow me to still enjoy myself on my holiday and also on the track.
These were the original parts i needed

Oil, Coolant, Brake Fluid etc.

After having trouble sourcing a few parts (to match my budget) i decided to change it and try a different direction...slightly.
First of all my lovely girlfriend bought me these:

I found a set of Wheels selling 15x7 +38 from a private seller that owns Bell Motorsports (Great guy) in Hastings and prepares BMW M3 Track cars, it suited my budget so i decided to get them and save myself the headache. They were in average condition with gutter rashes and scratches but they came with 2 still usable semis A048 :D (Wanting to get rid of these) 205/50/15

they sat fairly flush with the front but in the rear they sat directly under my rear guards and i knew that this would cause trouble.

So i went shopping to find a solution for this, came across ANOTHER great buy (since AUD is so high atm).

I've been reading up on peoples track car setups and was completely confused with what setup i should run for my tyres and camber setting, so seeing great results by the BYP boys i decided to ask them. They have been a great help with little tips and advice on how i should setup the car. Cheers boys :)

Question: Can i adjust my front and rear toe settings from stock? Or do i need to buy something so i can adjust it?

I also got myself a camera mount from eBay (5 bucks) so i can record my day at the track.

To be honest, it's not that bad. I raced late last/early this year in a couple of them and sure, there were about 80 cars but it's manageable. I'm just guessing the last one was due to the turn out of good weather that made it so inviting. I also noticed on the natsoft timing site that 3 big tuner shops (AK Motorworks/Chasers and I think OTR) got heaps of their customers to come along (we're talking a solid 30 cars)

Ah nice, so both you guys going? Btw, 6am will be too late for departure. Gates open at 7 and scrutineering starts at 7:30am. When I did a morning departure, I left my house at 4am (I live in the S.E suburbs) and got there pretty much bang on 7 with a breakfast break. Also note that by the end of the day, your gonna feel pretty stuffed from all that driving however it'll be a bloody good experience!

Today with the help of my mate (an) installed front and rear HARDRACE camber kits. Will take photos of it tomorrow.
Service is planned for tomorrow for complete drain of all fluids.
Next week will be the wheel alignment and camber settings.

HAD TRACK DAY TODAY!
what a day it was.
was probably no more then 60 cars that turned up which means a lot of runs and open space to learn the course.

yeah it was an awesome turn out with the track clearing up by 2pm.
my times were not too bad considering being completely under powered.


i didn't achieve my target of 1:57 but i did break the 2 minute mark with a 1:59 which was good.
i set my PB in my second session.
for the day i only had 3 sessions and decided to call it quits just to make sure i dont walk home =D

if u prep the car right u shouldn't get any of these problems. flush ur system, new set of pads etc and u should be fine.

my car had no problem going around the track. i just turned the temperature to hot and opened the air duct to keep the car cooler.
but get out and hit the track! let me know if u go =D

Hey quang **** was an awesome day. sorry i left early ... chris's gf gave me a hay fever tab got me drowsy... LOL felt like shit after that last run i did.... and what made it worse was the borrowed helmet was to small squashing my head giving me a head ache. lol but DW DW i've caught the track bug man.! imma start hunting some suspension mods... hopefully for another track day im better prepared im aiming 40's next time i go!

just some friendly suggestion for next time, try to find a better line in the cow t*ts - your entrance into penrite corner seems ok but coming out of the last corner you seem to be turning very late on most occasions and limiting yourself the opportunity to accelerate any earlier.

Incredibly quick. I remembered doing a track day in March and seeing an identical one in black, same kit, same wheels but smaller spoiler. I spoke to the driver on the day and it's actually not his car. It's his customers' car which he took out to do some testing with one of his engineers. It's still undergoing testing so 1.29 is a might feat for sure!

Well after my holiday i will be on the hunt for a new motor to complete my conversion.
these are the ideas i have in mind.

Import a EG6 and strip everything over to my car (thought it would be easier to use a donor car)
Or i can source parts here, rolling eg shell, motor etc.

any ideas guys?

yeah thats what i heard, u can only import the whole car for race use only.
so looking into who i could go to so they can import it.

making up my mind between eg6 and jdm teg. its all about prices.

There's Tampered Motorsport days almost every month so if you miss out on one, it's only a 6 week wait or so for the next, plenty of time to accumulate and fit parts.

I read earlier in the thread that you were thinking about sway bars. And running a 25mm front and 22mm rear. Shouldt teh thicker bar be on the back to get it to turn in when on the throttle ie gasing it out of a corner.

the 24mm front sway would be from ITR and the 22mm is for the rear also from the ITR.
not too sure why this is the case, perhaps because the extra weight that the front has to deal with it. ie, motor etc.

its thicker at front, an thinner rear, unless u want over steer lol, the general rule of thumb is, thicker at front an thinner rear, to balance out the overall handling between over an understeer

ive seen few 36mm front sway bars on ebay, thats pretty much race car territory right there, as far as i know, anything bigger than type-R, u mite as well turn it into a track car, as it be pretty insane to drive a car with thick sway bar like that on the streets lol

Just go for the DC2R setup, it's already perfect so just copy it.

If you're going to track it you don't want either understeer or oversteer.

A thicker front sway bar will lend itself to understeer which is performance killing.
