One Fighter

hey.

wanted to know that i get on a full tank around 450kh's in my honda civic eg 1994 breeze, and i got a carby engine. 1.5L d15

i fulled up the tank which is 35Litres, but i read that other people are getting like around 600kh's

anything i should check or do or the reason why im only getting 450kh's??

thanks in advance. :D

true, might due that. yea i don't trash my car like redlining each gear, i gear correctly and gear down. correctly,

450km on 35L gives 7.78 L/100km. That's probably city/suburb driving and sounds about right if you are doing that. If you want 600km out of 35L, that's 5.83 L/100km which is typical of highway driving.

you got it pretty good, if ur trying to save money on petrol, why would u spend money going fuel injected, as that costs an arm and a leg. u wanna save 10$ every fill-up, but would do that by spending 1-3grand. :S

unless my gauge is showing wrong like i have like another 10L in the tank??

Pablos I had a GL before! Though I got about 500-550kms before I normally filled up (about 38L when I fill up). Best thing about the GL was that even if I thrashed it I would still get over 500km per tank lol

Civic EGs have 45L tanks - Just check redbook. lol @ filling up 36L in a 35L tank.
I have a fuel injected eg and get 600km+ as well. From full, the needle only starts to move when I've traveled 110-120km. Shifting at 2500rpm and of course higher for hills.

Changing from carby to fuel injected is very tedious - numerous threads on this.

well that guide is referring to a sedan version. mines a hatch and i don't have a gli i have a 94 breeze.

but if my tank is 45L, then i should be easy pushing over 500khs, something not right. i think i need to check my honda books and actually see how much is the litres.

about 3 people had posted it was 45L. do you really think honda would make a tank that holds 35L, and that the tanks between EG models would be different capacities.
think of it from a manufacturers point of view. they would try use the same part for as many cars are possible to reduce engineering and manufacturing costs.

Use search to find info on checking your gauge and Fuel level sender. Theres been several threads about it in the last few months

The EG/EH VTi is 45L I'm sure.

I get normally 420KMs before the light comes on (which always freaks me out).

Basically all you can do is fill your tank to the max, drive a bit, refill to the max, work out your efficiency, and then calculate how many KMs you can get from your maximum tank capacity.

I know with my Civic that if I do some sensible driving I should easily get to 450KMs, maybe 500. But if I drive like an ass I'll probably only get 400-450.

You usually get a minimum of another 50 kms when the light comes on. I'm getting 650 kms to the tank (Caltex 95/98) in the rebuilt DA9. My EH9 Civic with B16A regualrly gets over 600 kms to the tank. Both cars have a 45 L tank capacity. The trick is no real trick at all - just drive steady, to the conditions, look ahead, get off the gas downhill, from a standing start at the lights be in 3rd gear by the time you cross the opposite set of lights, travel in top gear wherever possible. Don't believe me - try it. You''ll be amazed at how little it takes to get a car into top gear. Also make sure your tyres are at the right pressure.

your brother must be flogging the crap out of his motor to get 350km from a tank. does he redline every gear? either that or its in really bad shape.

I dont see why a B16 wouldn't have similar fuel economy as a D16

its weird, people have b18, yet they still managed to get 400km out of a full tank..

I have a 4.9 final drive so I'm on 3500rpm @ around 70km/h, I still get 7.8L/100kms (JDM B18CR) which is around 640km's out of a 50L tank (and I don't drive granny style either).

Instead of relying on the fuel gauge, reset your trip meter every fill up, with average driving, im getting around 500-520 kms (eg3) and i do give it a bit most mornings getting onto the highway ( almost a must haha)
I've worked out, that my fuel gauge is crap haha, going around any corner, gauge will change its reading, the only time i trust it, is in the morning, as i park on flat ground of a night.
So all i do is expect to average between 480-520 kms a tank, and i do that in a week, so i fill up every wednesday or thursday.

I got 630km/43L (50L capacity) freeway driving on the hume from sydney to melbourne which equates to 6.83L/100km. I think that's pretty awesome.

City driving I expect it to be around 8-9L/100km.

The car is an 06 Civic Sports (FD2).

ok, its been about a week, filled up with 31.58l and managed 401.9km. again, im running an eg5 with b18cr, js racing intake and rm01a exhaust.
this was with shell 98ron, i find the vortex 98 doesnt get as far, and i used bp 98 tonight, ill see how that goes. but so far in my experience the shell 98 stuff is the best, havent tried the mobil 98 stuff
the needle was at about 1/4 plenty to go, but petrol was cheap tonight

your fuel consumption should improve after about 2-3 tanks of the same fuel. so if you're going from shell to BP, fill up BP 3 times and count the kms on the 3rd tank. i know this happens with my gf's jazz.. it goes from 6.1L/100km to 7.0L/100kms if we change fuels, but if we fill up a few more tanks it eases out.

i once filled up 41.7litres in her jazz.. the tank capacity is 42Litres LOL

I've filled again with ultimate and so far it seems like the fuel Econ will be aboutyhe same
I'll refill with shell next

I managed 430 KMs at 37.3L which I'm pretty happy with. EH Civic VTi, D16Y1. Drove like a pussy the whole tank, hardly rev'd past 2500-3000. Drove me bloody crazy since it took like two weeks to empty the tank.

Now I've re-filled and just fanging around to celebrate :)
