hey guys im buying a hi flow cat this week and im not sure whether to buy 2.25 or 2.5"?

its a twin carb so performance gain isnt really the massive issue here, i just heard i could lose some power off the 2.5 because its too big to suit the engine?

What size is the rest of the exhaust?

Get the same size cat as the rest of your exhaust system

why even put a hi flow cat onto a twin carb ? spend it on handling mods or sumthing

then why are you even doing it?

i asked a similar question, and was told yes you will loose power and u will only feel power when u reach the redline, but whats the point of that you will end up frying the motor lol.

just get the back axle changed. thats what im going to do.

if you really want to change, i would suggest something between 2-2.25". probably the 2", if its too big you will lag in the low end revs.

I had a 2" system on my eg twin carby before - I straight away noticed power shifted to the top end but that's where my engine would die lol

So ur lower revs suffered? And gained mote top end power?

Rest of the exhaust is stock except the s12 muffler

Theres no point going larger. Get one the same size as the rest of you exhaust.

1.6inch ? LOL i dunno its less then 2inch

when i had a dual carb eg, i had a hi flow cat and 2" piping to a twinloop muffler... dont know what you guys are talking about but i never felt any power difference. i think its all in your mind. its the same shit just different sound... just dont touch ur exhaust, cars still going to be SLOW at the end of the day. save up for a better car/engine. and by this, putting on the cat, isnt really goin to make your car any more fun then it already is, if it is, 'fun'. why waste 200$+ for MINIMAL difference

*edit* LOL. my bad

Yep lol. To be honest, I didn't feel much of a difference overall. I definitely didn't feel much until I hit the hills. When I hit hills (especially from a stand still) I definitely felt that I had to push my car alot harder to get up hills. Might just be me though... Could be the massive drone and little movement lol

Regardless if there was a shift towards the top end (that's what I thought), there isn't much on the top end of the GL's anyway. I think you should leave it stock. Keep the muffler for the sound though if you want just don't change the piping as you'll be disappointed (I was).

I definitely wanted my stock exhaust back when I changed mine (but my stock exhaust was rusted). Good luck though!

doesn't the highflow cat make the car sound a little nicer though? :(

if you change the cat to a high flow one, and keep the stock exhaust. you may notice a slight increase in volume as it does let the stock exhaust breathe better. i have pretty much a 2.25" stock ep3 exhaust with a 100cpsi high flow cat and its definately louder on my car than when my bro had it one his with the stock cat. have you made your mind up yet? :)

Twin carb shouldn't be mod'd IMO. It's for fuel efficiency.

Sorry about hijack, but:

What about a 2" system on a D16Y1? I understand the gain would be minimal, but would 2" ruin the drive-ability of a city-driven D16Y1 Civic?
