easiest way is just to remove ur intake/filter top cover

or additionally u can take off the bumper and remove the bottom of ur intake/resonator or u can purchase a aftermarket intake with open pod i.e J's racing one aka whale penis

yea truu ill prolly end up removing the bottom of the resonator so i wont get hassled by cops. hmm the sound shud change too if i get aftermarket headers aye?

not really... exhaust sound mostly depends on the resonator and the muffler

Get a Pod filter and remove your stock intake box for abit of x-over sound...if you are after a more stronger VTEC x-over then i would say get some Headers and a high flow cat with a nice catback like a mugen twinloop, then you will hear the full x-over and feel it kick.

but if i get a aem cai will i still be able to hear the crossover? or will it jus be heard from outside the car?

imo a short ram is more aggressively louder than a cai. how do i know?

because I've used a fujita cai before and its not as loud as my

custom sri + 3a racing pod filter.

oh yea tru that was wat i was thinking...coz i really wana hear the slap of the crossover like the ones on b16s and k20s but im sure it wont be to that extent hehe

the cai's always made a louder crossover in my car. the short ram (whale penis) just made a more louder induction noise...although i think thats just because the pod was closer to me.

haha yea i wana get a stock ITR exhaust and put it on insted....

hmmm but isnt the downside in having CAI the throttle response?, wont ther be a lag and it feels like u
lost power...so basically its only for sound not really performance???

i hardly felt a difference in throttle response...cai is for top end.

DC28OY
26-05-2010, 08:31 AM
ahk oks i need top end too anyways... thanks bro

oh yea btw i really am leaning towards getting cai, my mate jus bought a del sol and its bone stock only has CAI, that has the loudest m**ther f**ken cross over in the world,
never heard anything like that before even from a k20 :S ... but then agen its a b16 so i noe for sure mine wont be as loud lol ...

remove ur canon, it may be way too loud for u to hear the crossover

DC28OY
26-05-2010, 12:31 PM
yea thats wat im thinkn tooo coz its some budget brand cannon that came with the car, its ugly ... i really want a stock ITR exhaust that way all ill hear is my intake mmmmmbbaaahhhhh!! lol

lol thats funny coz i bought one already like 4months ago and hell yea its loud but its exhaust sound tho but u
definately hear the cross over on half throttle till u hit 4500k then BAAAHHHHHH!!! lol ... but yea i want engine/intake sound tho, like i wana hear the legit engine cross over not the exhaust one hehe ... plus thats how i got done beginning of the year coz damn cops heard me from miles away :S lol so i took it off lol...coz i had an ITR exhaust before and jus a pod and the cross over was beautiful but then i had to give it bak to my mate so yea kinda lookin for a good condition stock ITR DC2 exhaust..

headers made quite a huge difference to the sound in my crossover, which wasn't that noticeable to begin with either being a jdm b18c
the crossover was there, but the headers just made it sound a whole lot better.

cai allowed me to hear both vtec and the dual stage
2.5" spec2 with muffler; could only hear vtec but rather lazy kinda sound.
with headers now it's very distinct.

i suppose with honda's when you're talking about i/h/e, it's not gonna give massive gains, but rather shift the powerband to where the engine produces its power best.
thus, upon installing such mods, there is more gains to be felt in vtec or maybe even a little loss down low.

yea thats wat i thot too, that headers also contributed to the sound, wow i wouldve thot that ur cross over wud be awesome coming from a b18c hehe
but yea...would a after market intake manifold make a sound difference too ur rekon? coz im thinkn bout getting a a skunk2 intake manilfold ..
but yea thanks for that bro =)

its JDM b18c from an SiR, hence it is equivalent to the AUDM B18C2 except for higher compression pistons.
In stock form there was barely any crossover to be heard and now it is very noticeable.

if you're gonna get a skunk2 IM, it will eliminate the dual stage butterfly and i'm pretty sure you will need tune the car to that.
you don't have the smaller port for low speed driving and thus intake air velocity is slower and hence less power on low revs (i could be wrong?)

just do your i/h/e and you will have a very nice crossover.

ohhhh i thot u had jdm b18c from a dc2 lol ... well i guess ill do as u say since youve already done it and u say there is a big difference .
thanks for the tips man, ill prolly get 4-2-1 headers for my bottom end since its pretty dead insted of 4-1's plus 4-1s sit pretty low anyways but yea still deciding
coz i really want a dc2r full exhaust. wat exhaust do u have anyways and how much? i might do the same set up as u since u can clearly hear a big difference.

I have a jap spec type r B18 in my ek atm and the cross over is ridiculous, you can hear it and feel it, and all ive got is a pod filter. Still running type r 4-1 headers and a Fujitsubo RMA01 exhaust apparently its really loud from the outside according to my mates :P

DC28OY
28-05-2010, 10:54 AM
haha yea man they go hard and they scream, another reason y i wana get a DC2r, that way i wont have to worry bout making my crossover noticeable haha ...

DC28OY
28-05-2010, 10:57 AM
oh btw how much am i looking at if i consider buying the Fujitsubo RMA01 exhaust ??

it's a jdm b18c from a dc2, just not a jdm b18c from dc2r lol the vtir iis known as SiR in Japan.
i have a full buddy club spec 2, but for street i use the greddy sp2 axle back mated to the spec 2 back pipe and for track just put the spec 2 axle back on.
unfortunately the muffler was off another car and the tip is too long for my car, but the catback will be going soon anyway, so that's not an issue.

what i'm trying to say is, be absolutely sure of what catback you want. it's not something you want to purchase twice when you realise it's not what you really wanted.
just learn from my mistake. sure you can sell the first one, but you've still lost a couple hundred on it when you could have just purchased what you want in the first place.
