View Full Version : EM1 - Bonnet Release Latch - Broken help!!

A little while back I was busy working on my car, Pulled the bonnet release latch and the latch snapped off, leaving only cylindrical part. Sort of hard to explain.

Now every time I need to open my bonnet I have to try and grip cylinder part and pull. Its a pain in the ass. I know I wont be able to fix it with adhesive and it will just continue to break.

Anyone know how to replace this.

i think you need to replace the whole cable assembly unless you can remove that handle and get one from the wreckers

yes, its a whole cable replacement job, huge hassle, carry pliers with u is my advice

Ahhhhhh Farrrrk. That sucks. I hope its possible to replace just the handle then.

Nope to handle, I had the exact same problem, develop ur finger pincing strength IMO

happens alot in the usa for some guys, they love carrying around pliers lol

they sell an aftermarket latch from one supplier on ebay, billet wont break

Same thing happened to me. I tried using some adhesives but it just keeps coming off..

I'd love to see the billet one as well!

Had a quick search on the net couldn't find billet replacement latch. Little help with search or link peeps???

Never seen the billet one but as far as I know it's a complete cable replacement. Can't see how u can just replace the latch part

sorry for the late reply guys, took me yonks to track down the tuning group who make the bloody thing, lol

was searching for driveshafts of all things and found their awd ef hatch and the logo of the company lol

I couldn't fabricate that for the same price here I know that lol

got one years ago incase my oem one dies (same with a glove box opener)
