ok guys.

Iv managed to get my hands on a EH9 thats a write off (not sure what type yet)

Basicly both the EH9 and my EG8 are both stock and Im wondering basicly what will fit in my EG8 out of the EH9.

I know 98% of the parts will fit lol, but more specificly GB, Drive Shafts, LCAs - UCAs, front disk brakes (same size as EG8?) ,rear disk brakes?

Also while Im on it, under P Plates will i be allowed to drop in the EH9 D16A8 in place of my D15B7?

everthing should be straight swap...

i dont think u can drop an older motor into a new car
but other than that everything will fit
u dont even have to change the wiring

I'm not on my comp ATM so I can't link you, but p plate restrictions apply in a way that you cannot modify your engine in such a way that it requires a mod plate, the eg came out with a d16a8 so it does not require this, simply swap over the engine number with DOT. We are talking QLD here people by the way. I am the owner of the donor EH9 :P

when I get home from work I'll link u to the relevant info from the transport website..

Cheers mate talk soon

above is correct. in QLD a mod plate is not required for swaps like this. I didn't need one when putting D16Y1 into an ED. Not that it mattered cos I'm not a P-plater

oooo yeah, pretty excited to hear this lol (but will swap still be good seeing that EH9 is from 1993 and my EG8 is 1995??)

so wiring doesnt need to be changed evan though D16a8 is OBD 0 MPFI and D15B7 is OBD 1 MPFI??

true, the thing im still unsure about is, an older model engine into a newer model car. ive heard you cant do that.
like i mean, sure its outright clear that you arent allowed drop a zc motor into a ek, but d16a8 being from the eh9 considered as a older engine?

wikipedia combats this by saying the d16a8 came in the following models of cars:
# 1988-1995 Civic/CRX/Concerto (UK/Europe/Australia)
# 1992-1995 Rover 216/416 GTi(UK/Europe)
# 1993-1997 Rover 216 SportCoupe (Europe)
i can assumably conclude that you can seeing as d16a8 was within the period the eg/eh was in.

can someone clarify this with hard evidence?

given they both came in an EG shell they should comply to the same ADRs. So in theory it should be allowed. CALL qld transport and ASK... not everything can be found on the internet

In a similar scenario when I was looking for motor candidates for my ED I found a 1989 DA teg and considered putting that into my 1990 ED. Called some places that do mod plating and guy said what I've said above. As both cars had to comply to the same set of ADRs he could mod plate the motor from 1989 to fit in my 1990 shell.

To be honest I doubt the people at QLD transport check what year the engine came from when updating engine no's anyway

As above!

The 'new' engine you install just needs to pass the same EPA regulations as the original motor, and since the D16A8 was a standard motor in both the EH and the EG from the manufacturer in Australia it will be a straight and legal swap.

if the cars been written off it cant be driven on the road full-stop. you'll have to rent a trailer to get it from wherever its coming from

You can hire a car trailer for about $70 a day down in VIC. Not sure about up there, or vehicles though.

as long as pieces aren't falling off and all lights/indicators work you should have no trouble with trade plate. just remember to take the "writen off" sticker off the windscreen. drive on.
