you will need a torch**, a flat head screw driver or an ipod plastic tool would come handy, wire-ties and double sided tape.

This guide is for the basic installation for a plug and play HID kit for the civic FD1

The kit used in my installation is from platinum visual (seller from this forum)

first thing first we will need to pull down the mud guard to take out the stock globe (hb4) to do this we are going to do what the menu says to do. Turn your steering wheel the opposite side as to the side which you are trying to work on.

There are about 4 nubs which will need to be taken off to let loose the mud guard.

once the nubs are off just put a finger into the hole marked in green and gently pull the mud guard down and once you have something the size of your fist pulled down you can use your fingers and slide it down the side the lift the mud guard out from the side.

It should look like this when finished.

flash your torch inside you can see all the possible places which you can install the ballast. Two of the most common position are.

the 2 red circles are where you can place a wire tie.

To take the stock globe off, take the stock connector (green) off then push the stock globe forward towards the front of the car and twist it anticlockwise and pull back to release it from the housing.

You can now mount the ballast or plug the wires, but i think best to visualize where you want to mount the ballast and try to navigate the wires and globes to the right place will be best.

To mount your ballast you place 2 strips of padded double sided tape on the back of it and mount it on to where ever you like and use a wire tie and tie it up.

mine ended up looking like that.

The HID globe.
TBH i have no idea how to get the cap off from the wire so i just did a bit of improvising and made it into a nice back for the silicon socket lolz.

To put the globe back in you will have to match the 3 wings on the HID globe. The smallest one out of the 3 wing is meant to be on the top once it is in. Rotate the Globe a bit to the left and aim it into the socket at the head light, then push in and twist clockwise.

Then plug the wire from your ballast into the HID globe

The connections.

The stock connector looks like that, on the above picture. Check your cable colors and the HID's connector head. Make sure head of the hid connector matches with the stock connectors end (it will lock in if it is correct) and that the color of the wires matches. (Well at least black anyway)

Then wallah hid is installed. Put the keys in your car and cross your fingers then turn on the driving light ( low beams) and it will flicker once then light up brighter as it worms up.

Good on you! It's going to be very helpful for lots of people! Hopefully mods find this and rep you (u probably only need 1 mod rep to get to member status..)

obtw, looks like u haven't fully rotated the bulb in dude :P That return wire's meant to be at the bottom. (and helps to reduce glare a tiny bit)

oo thx all. I'll check it tomorrow x fingers they are on correctly :D.

Talking about glare don't you think the jazz are bloody blinding from behind with the kits >.< was looking at the driver next to me getting and the jazz was like 2 cars behind and the light is like all over the drivers face, IT literally felt like there were a celestial being behind that driver :D. I think problem is with their big light which are causing more reflection upwards.

Yeh, jazz's are crazy glare!! It's just the nature of having a reflector housing tho :(

Nothing you can do about it, unlessu wannago HK and retrofit projector lenses to reduce glare.. We're pretty bad ourselves.

The only concern that I have with HID is with the insurance. Once you have an accident, they might avoid to pay for the dmg..
