Hi all in the market for a type R and while im coming across a few sellers with type Rs i have been asking for engine and vin numbers for my checks, in my process i came across this "type R".

http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=8465492&__sid=128A29542448&__Qpb=true&Cr=6&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal |1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&keywords=&__N=1216%201247%201282%201252%204294965322%2042949 65105%204294921591&seot=1&__No=45&__Nne=15&trecs=75&silo=1011

engine number: b18c21300247
VIN: jhmdc23800S300242

according to my calculations, this isnt a type R (dead giveaway with the engine number).
and according to http://www.civicforums.com/forums/31-canada-east/48382-who-knows-how-decode-vin-number.html It would indicate VTiR as

jhm = honda made in japan
dc2 = model
3=2 door 5 speed
8= VTiR (a 1 would indicate a Type R)
00 = check digit
3 = 1994 for vehicle year
and the rest is serial number

Any one else confirm this who may have come across the same issue (sorry this is the first time i have decoded a vin number..) but im pretty sure this is a fake type R?

looks like a type R head so im thinking the block has been changed?

Might be a type r with a vtir engine either that or its just a converted vtir

mmm from the link its seems like theres no sun roof , 5 stud, no moulding. if this isn't a real type r , then alot of work has been put into it to make it look legit. but the engine and vin numbers dont add up to be a real type r.

I would be careful, I don't know why he's listed all his interior parts.

The way he's listed it is like someone who owns a DC2/DC4 and is showing off their extra OEM additions.

Do you have the right link/pictures? The pictures show a black car, while the link is of a red ITR. :S

should be correct now

Why don't you ask the seller ?

the seller denys everything. hes is 100% sure its a type R and doesnt believe me when i say the numbers dont match..

if he denys everything i would leave it then.. i made the mistake of making a quick sale from nsw and buying a car which i didnt check out and when i tried doing a rego swap here in sa they said it was a write off.. and when i contacted the seller he denied it. some ppl are so dodgy.. i reckon keep looking.. dont make the same mistake i did :)
