hey guys just expirienced my car missfiring randomly, lasted 2-3 seconds and then went back to normal, i down shifted to 2nd whilst taking a right turn at a roundabout and it missed for abit then went away, stopped checked leads were securely plugged in and was fine. this happend twice in a matter of 1 hour!

i have a eg with a b18c7 swap, using iridium tipped sparkys and spoon leads, sparkies have been in the car for 10000kms, spoon leads about 4000kms, oil last changed 3000kms ago and i am running a stock dc2r ecu, i use bp ultimate fuel...just a few stats to answer some questions that may come up..

any ideas?

Check the dizzy cap for cracks.

Just monitor it the next few days and report anything in here.

Hopefully it was just a random thing...

start by changing your sparkplugs, or even just check them that the tips are not bloked if still ok then just send them back in, if it does it again try doing a diognostics check, that is if it does it again as beeza has said, keep us posted and let us know how it goes!

I think this guy must be selling spark plugs.

You need to establish if the missfire is Fuel or Ignition first. Then start with basic checks and move on from there. Don't replace parts in a hope they will fix the problems

If you don't know what your doing - GO TO A MECHANIC

Check spark leads, I have been seeing this exact same problem come up to often. As WhiteKight mentioned, dont waste your $$$. Swap around the leads and determine whether one is leaking charge, could also be a leaking cracked dizzy.

I just helped fixing a mates misfire issue,

All I did was clean the maf sensor, and the cai was loose abit so I tightend it up. So make sure just look around your CAI, and make sure the pod fitler sits away from the fan so it doesnt suck in hot air.

Hope I made sense

happened with 1/4 a tank
or less ?
Checked your fuel system ? Because it happened after a corner it's possile the car was starved for a brief second as the fuel sloshes around.
Check / replace
fuel filter fuel pump fuel strainer etc

FYI hondas don't have a MAF , they have a MAP sensor , located generally on the throttle body or connected to the throttle
body somehow

fuel filter has been on there for about 10000kms and iv got a whalbro fuel pump and that was put in 8000kms ago, hasnt missfired since so i guess it was a one off expirience and hope to never expirience it again, thanks for all the input guys!

Hey i have a vtec prelude with thick leads cold air intake and a exhaust system with high flow cat no extractors yet, recently my car had the tps changed and needs a new idle motor but everytime i shift down no matter if its 5th to 4th or 3rd it back fires and i was at the engine bay with the car running i accelrated to see if it back fires from the accelrator cable near the throtle body and it sounded like it was back fireing from the motor back closer to the extractors im scared its not the extractors it might be the engine any ideas anyone thanks

It's because you have an aftermarket exhaust system and high flow cat. The H22a in your prelude runs rich at mid to high RPM and when you release the throttle, you get a puff of unburnt fuel going through the exhaust where it burns and goes pop.
