just out of curiousity, duno what to search on OH or on google to get what i wanna know. tried a few words like:
deep vtec crossover
deeo vtec intake
deep intake noise vtec engaged.

just wondering, with modded cars, what tuning or sort of parts can a more deep tone vtec be heard? ive heard it on a few of my friends b18c vtir's n b16a's em1's but i cant pinpoint whether its because they manage to crawl up to the vtec crossover point or something.
for example at around 10-15 seconds after this clip starts:

i know, this is a bit of a silly vid, but thats the sound im curious about at 10seconds. i rather not link my friends fb videos haha

edit: p.s a really scientific explaination would be really nice thanks in advance :D

deeper tone, i'd recommend a cai.

with a DOHC VTEC motor such as a B16a/b B18c1/7/r there is a notable increase in sound when the cams cut over to high lobe, or VTEC. This is noticable without an intake when you drive. With an open intake, such as a short ram, or a CAI, the cutover is more noticable.

That video is actually making fun of VTEC fanboys... he is creeping up to the cutover point (which will be different in different motors) and giving it WOT at that point...

also, a scientific explanation can be had by understanding the physics of an internal combustion engine, then reading up on VTEC, and its ability to switch from low to high cam, and the differences in engine characteristics with a large lobe cam vs. smll lobe cam

i love that vid! hahaha.. JESUS!!

To answer your question, any type of open pod filter will help exacerbate the volume at which the vtec crossover sound makes. An exhaust system also helps.

Wow that car has a bad case of VTEC lag. He needs a smaller VTEC controller so that it kicks in at a lower RPM before that bigger VTEC has a chance to spool up and go "BLEEEAAARRGHHH"

To make the induction noise (that is what you are hearing, not the VTEC) louder, just get a pod filter. Either a CAI or a SRI will work. Note that they might not be road legal when the cops check your car when you are BLEEEAAARRGHHH-ing down the street.

Loud crossover means that your torque curve isn't smooth, and to be honest I'd rather have a good torque curve
