To all the lowered euros around the world, I have recently raised my car due to inconveniences with my day-to-day driving, however after raising up the car the problem that i was faced with is still present. After getting a reallignment, the car seemed very good at the start - driving straight etc etc. However, whenever i turn just a bit quicker (not even close to cornering speed) I get this huge knock noise coming from underneath the car. I have a set of aftermarket front ball joints, and they seem to be bigger than the OEM ones. I would just like to know if all the lowered euros have this issue, and have to live with it?? Or is it just me?? thanks a lot!!!
Btw...Its not really a scraping sound if anyone's interested....its one knocking sound and thats it

How much did you lower it by before? If it was by 3 inches or more (basically, dumped), then the CV joint could have been worn out.

Erm, before the workshop did it for me, and I wasnt there...but it was 1/2 - 1 finger gap....now I've got 2 finger gap and its still doing it. Do I need an allignment if i replace the cv joint? because I JUST did an allignment yesterday.....feeding the suspension shop like a pet....jeez....lol

How much did you lower it by before? If it was by 3 inches or more (basically, dumped), then the CV joint could have been worn out.
I will go with the CV joints too. Or the shot bushes in the lower arms.

1/2 to 1 finger gap is not that low though. How long were you driving at that height? Do you do a lot of u-turns with heavy throttle? Even 90 degree turns with heavy throttle?
Are you using aftermarket rims? If yes, what size, offset and tyre size?

I was driving with that height for less than 3 weeks....not long. I don't really do U-turns either.....I tend to turn a lot more than I need to thru the corners because ill be afraid ill clip the side...just my paranoia....but in my apartment I have to go up this really steep ramp and then turn right.....Its not full lock, but i always realize after i go up my steering suddenly feels very light. Ive done a pedders suspension check and they said my lower control arm MIGHT be bent, not 100% sure, and they told me to install adjustable ball joints up front to rectify my positive camber (I hit a kurb a while ago, and my allignment was screwed big time, the allignment guys did an allignment after and told me about the postive camber thus.
I am still running stock facelift lux rims, 17"

Maybe the springs are not sitting in there perch correctly?

Hmm, good guess. It could be when they put the stock springs back on, they either did not do it properly or left out a bushing or two?

I'm curently not running stock springs, i'm using NF210 springs with the sustec kit. I have a feeling my mechanic did not install it properly, as it is not a tuning workshop, just a service centre. Now the problem is who should I find to rectify this problem? Should I go back to my mechanic and tell him that he did not install it properly and demand a check-up??? I previously did not have this knocking noise until I installed the upper ball joint. The front tyres were swapped with the rear tyres, the rear tyres now have near to no thread. I have a feeling that it is the bigger aftermarket balljoint hitting the fender lining, but Im not sure, because once I sit passengers, and go slowly, it was also knock.
One more thing is, that it only knocks if I turn a bumpy corner, I have yet to try it on a smooth corner, then again how hard is it these days to find smooth roads??

When you say upper ball joint, is this the front camber kit that you installed? If it is, make sure the adjustent bolts/nuts are tightly secured. You might need some blue threadlocker if it is loose and causing the sound.

The knocking sound is better now, it happens less often since the allignment. It could be because of the loose upper ball joint (Front camber kit). However once i sit one passenger, the nose drops, and if i turn on a bumpy corner it knocks again. Im guessing it's something to do with the height knocking something on the ground. Tanabe's maybe a bit too soft, and sagging when i turn, since I stil get a bit of bodyroll, but I've asked schmivic recently and he does not get the knocking sound, and he has no finger gap :eek:
