Cat convertors....... how long do they last????

Hello all,

Just wondering, I'm looking at a couple of second hand cat convertors and was wondering what I should be looking at to see if they still in good condition??? I guess is it even possible to see??

How long does a cat last on a reasonably sensible driven car????

Shake it to listen for rattles. If it rattles, then stay away from it because something has broken off on the inside. Also try to look through it and you shouldn't see any big holes other than the one in the honeycomb.

ahh sweet. Thanks, been looking at a few for sale but didn't want to get 50k km out of it and need another.

Never had to worry bout it cause all my cars haven't needed cat convertors.
