Engine Check Light Issue

Hello,

I have got a 2007 civic vti-l, I wasn't too sure about when the engine check light should turn on
but here is the case,

the engine light will be on when you insert the key and turn to on position
it won't turn off until you have actually start the car
it disappears after the car fire up

Is this normal?

Should I bring the car back to the dealer?
