Have searched & have some qs.
I have a b16 head I'm buildiing with b18cr valve train & b18cr cams.
I'd like to shave the head by 0.02 or should I go a diff no?
Do I have to have aftermarket cam gears or stock ok?
What head gasket should I get? Oem ok?

Bottom is stock b16 block. For the record this shave won't cost me due to my tafe teacher doing it.

0.020" should be no problem... Use the OEM head gasket...
Also use aftermarket cam pulleys to get the cams back in the correct position.
Best method to get the cam timing right is to install the parts per OEM instructions with cam gears locke on zero.
Then fit the alighment pins in the cams & use a TDC guage(#1 piston),now unlock the pulleys & roll through to TDC in the direction of rotation with belt fitted & tensioned.
Lock the pulleys where they end up.

No problem...

Also, when you deck the head @ tafe, aim for as close to a mirror finnish as you can.
