Hi all,
just picked up a em1, problem i have is the thermo fan wont come on..........
things i have tried...
direct power to the fan....and it comes on.
checked the fuse, in the engine bay that is also ok
i just changed over the relay from the condensor fan to the thermo fan, but still doesnt seem to work. Yet the thermo fan works, hence not relay.... :s
the car is not over heating it still says just below half but i just want to be sure i am not going to have a problem
any other ideas???
Thanks

Fan works via fan switch.
Unplug switch & bridge to test circuit.
If fan comes on earth is OK.
If not, check earth for fan switch.

If circuit tests ok & fans fail to come on, replace thermofan switch.

Afterthought...
Check your coolant thermostat 1st, when they fail open, you can also get the same issue.

Where is the fan switch??
Also isn't bridging the circuit the same as how I hard wired it?
Well I just changed the thermostat because it was stuck open
however now it's fixed and temp sits just under half. Before was always on c??
Also could it be I just never got the car warm enough?

bridging the fan is different as it still runs through the relay.
Compared to hardwiring the fan.
The fan switch should be next to the themostat ( on the thermostat housing) on the b18 anyways duno abt the b16. Jst pull the plug out of the switch and then bridge it with some paper clip.

Leave the car on idle and rev the car to 3 k the fan should come on in a few min.

Does the car over heat at all? If not prob means the fans are working but u just never see it turn on.

thanks for the help....
so just to confirm this is the plug near the thermostat housing which i need to bridge, so assuming its two pins just keep them connected and a paper clip should do the job.
Is that correct? or have i got it confussed.
Nah it never over heats just sits a little under half and doesnt fluctuate...its just i never seen or heard them work :S even when i leave the car running stationary for 5-10mins in the garage

yeah, should be that plug jst bridge it.

Idle n rev the car to 3k for few min that should heat up the engine quick

let the car idle for 30mins, by then they should of come on at least one time
