Hey guys,

I'm new around here and just got me an FD1 06 model.
I'm currently looking for a good Cat-back system for it, just wondering which is a good one out there at a reasonable price which would make a good low purr and not too massive looking lol.

I Got my eyes on a Greddy Evo2 system.
Any opinions?

Sounds like you are willing to spend quite a bit to get a proper exhaust designed for the FD1 and is easy to bolt on?

mugen sports silencer is a waste of money, ill agree with tim and get the j's racing

Nairda
07-06-2010, 01:06 PM
why is it a waste of money? i dont like the look of the J's racing although it does give a good sound =)

Stig

if you did your research you are going to pay 1.2k for a mugen exhaust tip alone whereas for the same price you can pay for a whole catback from js racing

the mugen exhaust tip isnt that loud either, its more of a bling item rather than giving gains

Nairda
07-06-2010, 01:15 PM
the only reason i like it is because its not that loud....i dont want to attract attention from cops pulling you over because your car is over the dB limit...AFAIK the dB limit is around 98dB

1.2K is pretty steep....perhaps fujitsubo twinloop

Stig
07-06-2010, 01:17 PM
in regards to the fujitsubo, they only make it for the fd2 atm, they made one for the fd1 but ONLY for the singapore market and its really hard to get :(

i wanted one but had to settle for js racing instead

Nairda

fortunately im planning on getting FD2....If you change your bumper to type R bumper it should fit no?

Stig
07-06-2010, 01:32 PM
only replica will fit on a bolt on basis... unless you get a genuine fd2r front bumper and fd2r front guards

MasterPHO
07-06-2010, 05:54 PM
yeah I have to agree I did look at the Mugen one.. and they are pretty expensive =D.. Although with the J's Racing.. anyone got a vid and pic of how they look and sound like???

Edit:

Nevermind just Youtubed it, Yeah J's Racing def sounds meaner than Mugen LOL... but Mugen look better, not a fan of the titanium tip.

I meant if you got a replica type R bumper the hole in the exhaust should be big enough for the fujitsubo?

Does anyone believe this?

i thought the FD2R exhaust system doesnt fit onto the FD1....

Stig
07-06-2010, 06:27 PM
maybe cos it says fd2r muffler?

Nairda
07-06-2010, 07:08 PM
dont need to change the bumper for that?

btw hows the 5Zigen one?

I rather do, look at the dash its blue so I guess its an FD1. isn't the dash for FD2R Red?

Nairda
07-06-2010, 08:03 PM
oh that was not my concern...i thought they put in a whole FD2R exhaust system onto FD1....ive heard it doesnt physically fit without modification

Stig

it wont, chassis design is different

Nairda

it wont, chassis design is different

Is it the hull chassis thats different or the position of the engine that makes it different?

The only reason i ask is cause some folks in Thailand did this....

Regardless I'm going with a Magnaflow even if they don't have a cat-back application. I've always loved their deep tones and nice barrels.

how is the feel of that ? Performance wise
and how much was the price lol ???

Edit:
Woa... just youtubed it .. Skunk2 is so freaking loud.

Prefer the sound of Mugen. though trying to find a catback for it.. since they dont make it for FD1's. just wondering if the j's racing Catback will go wit the Mugen... any opinion?

Apologies for my noobness =]

its cheap i bought it for $850 from ebay including shipping. performance wise, more response. noisy? its actually depends on how quick you press the pedal lol..

Mugen sound nice but are you willing to pay that much just for the muffler?

Cheers.

Hey stig, mind if i ask how the j's racing muffler was on the stock exhaust catback? By stock, you mean the stock FD1 catback? Thanks =) And how is it performance wise and noise?

js racing make a full cat back and a muffler only system, i got the muffler only and it was bolt onto the stock catback of my fd1

performance wise would not have a clue since the r18 never had much power to begin with anyway, noise wise, its louder to 3000rpm than stock but anything above 3000rpm i can just hear my injen cai, i havent heard it from the outside yet on a drive by:(

Maybe some divine power is telling you to reconsider....lol =P
Fujitsubo sounds good...and they make a full exhaust system for the FD2 (from the exhaust manifold)

xenonkuraz

Damn man that would be so expensive though and would probably require a good tune to make the most of it

i cant find any people with FDs who take it for a run with a legalis R but the RM-01 seems like the kinda thing i like....low ambient noise but brings out the natural tone in high rpm...
I know you dont have a B18 but listen to this...

Aaa Dams, what a shame. I see. Hm..... wondering if its actually worth getting a J's racing catback on a FD1 =\. Wow? the CAI is louder than the muffler? :O

xenonkuraz
12-06-2010, 12:20 PM
Wow? the CAI is louder than the muffler? :O

This is the case with my CD5. From 1-3k rpm the muffler is pretty loud but after opening up the throttle the vtec SCREAMS and drowns out the sound of the exhaust even with the windows down.

-vrrrmmmmmmBWAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Doesnt V-tec hit around 5k mark though?

In regards to the J's racing catbacks, will the titanium system be much of a difference in terms of performance/sound compared to the stainless steel ones? 60mm vs 50mm.

Stig
26-08-2010, 08:19 AM
with our crappy engines, you wont notice much gains in general lol

stanz86
26-08-2010, 01:27 PM
So would it be better off just paying 1.1 for a new SS set or a used gd condition Ti 60 for 1.5 u reckon?

Stig
26-08-2010, 03:18 PM
ill take the ti 60, even though gains aren't noticeable but wank factor is :p

Try JdmYard or JDM Concept, around 480-550ish.
