Fuel starvation will be the biggest issue, if any. Just get out there and have fun, but most of all be safe. No car will work if you put it into a wall. :)

u should be able to fix that if u make the car run a bit richer isnt it????

thanks for all the feedback. guess that makes my decision of tracking in november. =D
i will look into fuel starvation and see what i can do about it.
should i be worried about oil temps?

Oil temps- depends partly on the temperature on the day and how long you stay out for. If you do 6 to 8 laps at a time you would be safe. Do use good oil, and if its brownish after the track day replace it. Before you ask, I use GTX3 in what is a stock block. On a hot summer day going hard, 6 laps is about right. The oil temperature starts dropping as soon as I take the speed of as well, so you can do say 6 laps, do a cool down lap, and go again for another couple of laps. Traffic permitting, of course.
Get out and drive, walk around looking, admiring and asking questions and get engaged with the others.
Change the tire pressures etc as well and see what happens.
If you can, follow some cars around parts of the track you might have difficulty with and see where they go. And walk around and watch lines and braking points as well. It's all part of the day. And enjoy it!

Hey,
Yeh we part of the same convoy going to the Sneeze.inc track day when the 5-7 decided it was a good idea to drop by and look at your car. Bad luck man, hope you didn't get dealt with too harshly.
Anyway, Quang you'll be right. Just make sure you service the car and make sure the fluids are all topped up ect.

I talk to a few guys who are new to the track, and remember my own first times. Daunting is right. But that's ok, a dose of apprehension is good for you. Everyone else there has been the same, and they understand. Couple of points.
If you see someone coming up and you have time keep over to one or the other side, in plenty of time. Don't do it late and suddenly.
If it's near a sequence of corners and you can't easily get out of the way, keep to your line and drive as you want to. They can wait, or will get around you.
Be predictable, in other words.
You can indicate to someone that you want them to pass on a particular side by Hand signals out the window. Ask what the local signals are.
If it starts getting crowded or overly willing, come in and wait for some to come in before going out again.
If you need to pass, do it on the straights, not the corners unless someone invites you through with the hand signal. Don't assume that they are staying wide in a corner and have seen you and you can go through.
If you lose it on a corner, try to go off straight rather than sideways. Sideways can lead to a roll. Straight is much better. Decide to go off straight early rather than be brave and tough it out. Wait to regain the track until there is space.
Someone spins off in front slow down and go carefully around. I have been known to take the escape road rather than try to go past someone who just had a moment in front.
Brake straight. Ask me why I say that!!
Don't worry too much about having the car tuned and kitted for the track. New fluids, good tyres with high pressures, no leaks, new or close to brake pads at the front (they wear like you won't believe). No loose stuff, take out the spare, etc. Just remember the car will be faster than you, even in street trim.
It's great fun.

Quang if you're going to OTR trackday most of the safty tips will be covered in the email beforehand and also on the day as well. Some trackdays don't really cover that stuff and people overtake like idiots around corners and stuff like that even worst... they don't let you pass when you cleary are faster but just can't overtake on the straight.
But you have the right mentality here man, just go and have fun that's the main thing some people get soo into it on the first day, they have semi's all these fkn mods n shit man you don't need it. First day is for one thing and one thing only, learning your car and learning the track. If my ghetto **** EG can survive yours will be fine broo hehehe. Good luck man, maybe I can try squeeze into this trackday as well.

Anything will do really, as long as it's road worthy and decent amount of grip. I was running these shitass sumimoto's but still got a fkn awesome time. Because it's your first time you most likely wont make good use of new tyres, so it doesn't really matter as long as they have good tread and are road worthy not like my 50 year old tyres on my steelies which have cracks in em they should be fine :)

It depends on which trackday some require fire extinguisher some don't. Also helmet has to have Australian Standards sticker on.
Bring spare oil etc.. and Jerry can if you have one, When you get into town fill up a full tank.
Pretty sure Vu was speaking to Johnny yesterday.

Why brake straight. Because if you are braking hard, as you should be, then you will be using most of the grip of your tires just in braking. If you try to turn as well, you overload the grip and one end or the other will slide, and off you go.
Even if you aren't braking hard at the time, it's still an excellent habit for when you have more experience or just decide to brake later and harder. Or have to brake hard because of other cars.
In my particular moment, I was trying to pick up a couple of skylines, and decided to brake very late and hard. They braked early, and I was rapidly coming into their rear. So I tried to angle to the inside. I was sideways at 140 kph, and stopped very quickly. Basically, the rears were very lightly loaded, locked up when I took the angle because I overloaded their grip, and away the rear went. There are ways I could have dealt with that if I had had more experience or a bit more time, but things happen very fast out there.
So I do all the heavy braking in a straight line, and do any trail braking after that main effort and just before the corner. Rather than trying something fancier in braking, I concentrate on trying to be in the right slot, at the right speed, and with the suspension setting up for the corner. Its quite difficult to do this every time for every corner, as conditions and tire grip change. Give me a a lot more practice so I can do that basic right line/right speed thing 95% of the time, then I can start doing more complicated things. For now, simpler driving, safer driving.
