how big should the exhaust piping be for a car as small as the jazz?

i've always thought 2 1/4 in. but a friend of mine reckons 2in and someone else reckons 2.5 in

bah

50mm should be good, 2.5inch or 65mm would be too big

you dont want too thicker piping on a reletivly small engine... so i recon about 2" is right.

For all round driving 2inch is best. if you get 2.5 you will lose power down low.

basically 2" will do in a NA 1.5 motor..

I agree. Definately not 2.5!!
Possibly 2.25 on a highly tuned jazz
2 inch is the best option IMO

The Jazz piping look like 2.25 from under neath the car,
but the muffler outlet looks like 1.5inch lol

The piping definately isn't 2.25.

Run a 2". I had a 2.38" and bottom end suffered a fair bit. Top end was great, but you had to rev it hard all the time....Just not great for every day driving.

I now have 2" and it's a great all-rounder

2.25 is the best way yo go buddy

just get the one which made for jazz

hondar

for jazz it is 50mm inner diameter (about 2 inch), just do remember that most of the jap muffler is measured using inner diameter and if u do custom made, the muffler shop measure using the outer diameter. so a 2.25inch custom made could be in fact a 50mm (Inner Diameter) muffler.

anyway i have the vision jazz muffler in stock.

it is JAZZ - $655.00 inc GST & TAX delivered PLUS u get Silencer with it.

not too loud for a N1 muffler, i have them in my car.

http://www.imgmag.org/images/hondar/vision/j1.JPG

u dont have to buy them but just letting u know if u keen on getting one quick and for a good price, i have them in stock now.

if u want to know more about vision, u can go to

merry xmas to all

next year i will stock more jazz parts if there enough demand for them.

Quick question guys... if anyone can comment...

1. Is it better to get a custom muffler (e.g. Hi-Tech) or get something like what Hondar is supplying... obviously, custom one would be cheaper I assume... but the Cat-Back one is less hassle...

2. Is it better to wait for the run-in and make muffler mod after 5000km ???

3. Any good place you guys can recommend in Melbourne??? For those who have already done their muffler, would you recommend yours? what brand? roughly how much fully install ???

Thanks... :D

for 655 for a muffler plus silencer plus delivery for a full stainless steel high quality muffler it is a good deal.

dont get me wrong but this is a bolt on which you can DIY and save massive labour. if u dont want it u can uninstall yourself and put back ur standard muffler. easily save 2x labour (putting on and off)

the workmanship is guaranteed as well. full mandrel bent exhaust muffler..

lol... but it is up to you mate.. :D

Wow!! Looks great!

I know nothing about modification so please put up with my questions!!

Actually, I heard from someone saying that changing to other muffler which has bigger diameter will actually decrease the accelaration. Is that true and why?
Also, if it's installed to a Auto Jazz, will it constantly produce noise as CVT does not involve gear changing.

As Hondar mentioned somewhere, this Vision Muffler is not as loud and it also comes with the silencer.. I am getting an Auto Jazz and I have also considered your questions...

My only worry is whether to do it before 5000km or after 5000km which the car has properly run in .. or does it matter ???

Actually Hondar, are you able to take another picture similiar to your j4.jpg but in a slightly higher position... the j4.jpg picture is very hard to see and unable to tell how the tip looks like...

Thanks.

I am not sure but isn't the most critical run-in period is around 2000 - 3000 km?? How many km have you travelled?

mate, i dont it actually matter... whats more important is you dont abuse your car yet.. lol.. ie. drive too hard...

a muffler is just to help expel fumes..

This is how an internal stock muffler look like. They are called chambered..

http://www.team-integra.net/images/BAEC1978-D3A7-4405-AB2D-2761DC15A96D/articles/faq/exhaust_basics/exhaust6.jpg

The air is forced into many dead-end chambers, creating backpressure and making it difficult for the air to flow through smoothly.

this is straight what a straight through system looks like an N1 systems and how it looks like vision n1 or spoon n1,
