Yes you can. You need to plug up the vacuum line that controls the dual runner butterfly's in the manifold. Cause that is an electronically controlled vacuum line.

Highly recommend a piggyback or a type r ecu with a vafc tuned.
Only because the compression ratio is different. also the design of the manifold. So utilizing the vtir ecu will work. But might throw codes here and there, as vtec is set at 4500 and dual butterflys at 6000 (5800 to be exact).
Also the vtec lobe is more aggressive, so you run the risk of running lean under WOT.

Besides that, its pretty much bolt on. Its the same motor setup and everything. Its just the little bits and pieces. Make it all easier and get an aftermarket ecu, whether it be piggyback or standalone. And if youre going piggyback, i recommend you use a type R ecu. Cause the base map is pretty much spot on for that head already. Most probably youll have to knock off or add a few numbers as the type R's head will flow alot better.

IMO though, if you have a stock motor use your vtir head and build it. Vtir heads have a touch more torque at the bottom end solely due to the dual runners.
Its when you start going high comp you should look at the type R's head, thats where it really shines.

Wow You know your stuff , Cheers man for da info. It really helped.

Im in a situation where i cracked my b18c2 head so just thinkning about a type r head, I have a skunk intake manifold and a mugen equipped aftermarket ecu That i have not yet installed.

How i cracked my head its those 4 outer bolt that secure the rocket cover and i tightened i bolt abit too much then Bangg.
And yer now the rocket cover is held on by 3 bolts.

What would you do in my situation??

The car still runs fine Doesnt leak due to replacing the rocket cover gasket.
Just checking if its worth it spending $500 on a new head.

Cheers brother

you cracked the head or the rocker cover?

i dont think you would have cracked the head from tightening it too much

sounds like you just need a new rocker cover lol

lmaoooooo. sorry mate, had to , but no you did not crack the head that is just the rocker/valve cover just replace that, and you should be fine.
Unless you can install the head yourself be prepared on paying big $$ on labour to install the head aswell.
You will also need new accelleration cable, Need the Intake manifold that comes with it (cant use B18C2),

the head is pretty solid metal man ... u cant break it from doing up a bolt too tight

i say post a pic so we can see

OOhhhhh i see why you guys think i cracked the rocket cover. Because those usually there 4 long threads that are there to secure the rocket cover in place by tightening the 4 bolts. But my one has 3 long threads so i can spin the bolts on and the 4 hole previous owner FFfed up so i think he drilled a hole and used a 12mm Bolt to secure it pretty bodgy.

Show you guys a picture tomorow lol sorry for misunderstanding you guys now i can see why you guys were laughing at me hahah

looks like its from the rocker assembly, on most hondas the rear bolts for the rocker cover are held on buy the head and the front are held down to the rocker assembly

somebody else will have to clarify though as im not 100% with B series head anatomy ... if it was a D i could tell you lol

i never opened the rocker cover on my B18c

but from the look of it you only need to replace the part that is broken

and as for the B18c7 conversion ... you are much better off building the VTIR engine ...
- Intake
- 4-2-1 Headers
- 2.25" Exhaust
- Skunk2 StageII Cam
- Skunk2 Intake Manifold (VTIR version)
- Earth kit
- Apexi VAFCII + Tune
- Skunk2 Shift Knob

= happy

Thanks for the Info man.

You gave me comfort. Im serious.

Intake
- 4-2-1 Headers
- 2.25" Exhaust
- Skunk2 StageII Cam
- Skunk2 Intake Manifold (VTIR version)
- Earth kit
- Apexi VAFCII + Tune
- Skunk2 Shift Knob

= happy

i HAVE most of them except.

Skunk2 StageII Cam And earth kit. I know about the cams but Earth kit sounds like wires??

good earth kit, some performance ignition leads and some good quality spark plugs gives the car a good ground and spark =)

so get urself some cams + adjustable cam gear and a good tune and you will be happy =D

by running all those mods and also if you run cams. you will need a proper ecu ie hondata s200/s300 or chrome, power fc or something. running a piggyback on those mods is not recommended as its limited to tuning.

a vafc is the biggest waste of money no joke.

after a good 20,000 on a build on my car i cna tell you ecu. makes a big difference. cams do too. but ecu is more if not the most important. especially if you get cams, you might want to get a tune + cold start tune(800ish). so you dont have to sit in your car and keep revving first time you turn it on everyday.

agreed ... only reason i mentioned VAFCII is because im not full bottle on proper ECU management packages

the earth kit is a waste of money , unless your after clearer sounding system.

Yeah The car came with A brand called MSD ignition leads - Dont know if their good and a Mugen equiped ecu . Its the standard ecu modified by toda putting in some mugen stuff or something . I dnt know charged me $750. Well see later.

Does any of you have these mods
