Well tommorow I pick up my new euro just a thought like with most cars there is a running in period.

So for how long should I take it easy on the car before i get thoese engine revs high ?

One other thing ....... Engine oil only use 10w-30 Honda ? or is there somthing better out there as I can be a tad harsh some times.

I find that letting it rev high gradually is fine. Just don't open up full throttle. It also helps your piston rings seal. Remember that you are not running in just the engine, but also the gearbox and drivetrain. This is what I gathered:
Engine: Run in through whole rev range, but avoid full throttle until later.
Gearbox: Run in gently, don't dump the clutch and also let your revs fall to the correct rev before shifting to let the box settle in.
Brakes: Drive carefully for the first 100km, the brake pads are not at full potential until worn in.
Suspension: AVOID potholes, even small ones. Let the suspension travel smoothly until it has done running in, then it can take bumps and such without leakages.

It is easy, but the trouble is getting a balance between all the above! Good luck!

I reved it to redline from new, haha. Just don't bounce on redline, and don't thrash it while cold. For manual, I guess take it easy with your freshly cut cogs :D

I didn't hit redline until after I travelled 1000kms. During the first 1000kms, I avoided driving at constant rpm, especially on highways. Also, from time to time, I gave it full throttle on high gear. Everyone has different theories on running in an engine but my car is very fuel efficient and drives well, so I presume I didn't do such a bad job.

Like any car - let it warm up before sticking the boot in.

Every one has different opinion, some people think babying it is best, others think the track is the best way to break in a new car. What ever takes your fancy. It will just get better with time my friend!

Your car comes with mineral oil to start from factory - this is because it doesn't protect your engine as well as the Honda FEO 10w-30. This is to run in your engine easier. If you change too soon, it would take you longer to run in your engine.

Honda oil is great, no need to go different. Don't worry about being harsh, I am!

If I were to change, I'd go fully synthetic MOTUL or CASTROL. I would only do this if I went to the track regularly. Since no tracks up my way, waste of time.

As aaronng said - it is not just the engine you are running in.
