Weird civic mod

This is not exactly to my liking but thought it to be an interesting mod - vertical doors! :D Respect to the owner for having the guts to do this.

Its funny to see that the car is not heavily modified on the exterior. but i like the doors, im just not sure about practability or insurance or legality issues.

I wonder how easy it is to get in and out.

depends who you get it from if you get a decah kit from the us (the original kit) bout 1800 us, or you can get one from www.metalking.com.au for alot less....

Lambo style vertical doors are old now. The cool vertical doors hinge from the top like the back to the future time machine. Example;

Lambo door are one of the most popular and expensive ricer toys for ur car. Ive been wanting them for ages now. Cant afford. My mechanic here in melbourne, mitcham will custom build u the kit from scratch for roughly 3k. Motorised one controlled by a remote is 4.5k.

you can buy the kits ready made for civics for 2k, not sure how much for fitment tho. it a blot on kit too, no other mods needed.

I just read in a car mag that some company has kits or watnot for certain cars...So it is a simple bolt on job for the cars that they have made kits for. No panel beating etc required.

They said prices started from 2500 which is pretty steep.
The mod looks great but i think i'd rather use the money for other mods...

i contacted a bloke in Queensland about how he got his done (Red EG with 18's??) , as i was considering it. He said the novelty lasted 2 weeks before he was sick of having to lift his doors up when he got in and out. It apparently is quite an effort.
Still look good and would be pefect for a show car or something.

yeah seen that eg hatch it was for sale recently.... yeah would be an efort as the gas shocks arent very big...

the doors, although look cool, dont feel cool.
a fella has them here in adelaide,
i asked him "does it fit, open, close and feel alright?"
him "not really...its just for looks"

you have to open them out a bit then lift them up,
so basically you're going to have to do 2 things to open your door, which to me is a waste of energy.

Also.. when you get angry or are in a hurry, then u cant close your door fast.

i reckon the suicide doors are the way to go.
you can reverse your arse into your car :) unlike normal doors which u have to kind of do a weird head in then arse trick to sitdown.

To me that would just feel too weird, getting into a car with suicide doors.
