hi guys,

I need some of your expert advice.. I've been looking for the absolute front bumper for awhile already and i stumbled upon this on yahoo auction. Its got some defects which looked pretty minor to me but happened to be at critical joints so i'm quite worried about them.

http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n83973817

the defects identified are:
1) broken off top left bracket
2) split top left bracket
3) minor scratches on the edges
3) rash on the lower lip

do you guys reckon this can be easily & worth fixing? can anyone recommend a bodykit repair shop in melbourne?
sorry i'm not very good with all this modding business and sourcing stuff from overseas. i only know how to drive the car. planning to bring it in through importmonster. pretty much only need to pay for the shipping only.

thanks alot guys. please help...

not much problems from my point of view except the broken top and bottom brackets. am sure Atjo can recommend a body shop in Melb.

shipping will cost you an arm for this item..... can i ask reasons do you want an Absolute bumper? don't you know the AUDM foglight cannot be fitted to the JDM Absolute bumper housing unless you want to wire mesh them. IMO, i would rather get an aftermarket bodykit instead of OEM from Japan but its upto you. Happy modding!!

You can go to DT Panels in Springvale if you want to fix the bumper. Just ask for Vu & tell him Daniel refers you to him.

@ AusAccord: hmmm.. didn't know about the fog light thing until you pointed it out. i don't even have fogs on mine right now. if i do go with this then i might need to suss out the fogs that fit into the abs bumper from asia.. but thanks for the tip anyway!

@ Atjo: hey thanks! I'll keep the name in mind and make sure to remember to name drop too..

bro Accord,

When you say the housing, do you mean just the garnish wouldn't fit or the entire lens bracket?

evolution
05-07-2010, 01:16 AM
The AUDM fog light itself will fit, but there is a black plastic that frames the light housing to suite it to the bumper type. There are 3 shapes from factory in Japan

http://www.nst-auto.com/hnd/odyssey/images/images_L/image_L_08V31-SAA-000C.jpg

1st one is non-absolute facelift bumper with no lip kit
2nd one is non-absolute facelift bumper with Modulo lip kit
3rd one is Absolute bumper with Absolute lip kit

With the bumper in the Yahoo Japan Auction, there is no black plastic frame and no foglight. So you will have to get them from somewhere other than a dealer here if you want fog lights, else it will be hole or as Aus said, wire mesh.

bro Evo thanks alot.

Ok I found this dude on ebay selling some non-ori lamps (button switch) $120+ and it seems that if i get the pictured used absolute bezel it should fit onto the bracket although the 3rd screw housing seems to be broken or something. what da ya think?

whats everyone here running on? stick switch or button switch? has anyone here installed stick switch w/o going through dealer? $600-700+ just for foglight installation is quite cutthroat

also, out of curiosity is it legal to drive with your foglights on on normal conditions?

Evolution, aka_NSX and myself running OEM stick switch and three of us DIY. its funny as i remember the bracket fixing onto bumper then cover on top, not bracket ont0 cover as shown on yr pics...... be-careful if it says using button switch then you may need run wires thru firewall as OEM one already pre-wired and its only a plug-n-play system onto fuse box. its not legal running foggies on normal conditions

aka_NSX

Mobil1, not sure if that ebay set will fit the absolute bumper even with the Absolute bezel. It looks like it's for the pre-facelift models.

The foggies took me 1 full day to install and without Aus_Accord's instruction manual I would never have figured it out.

haha... yeah took me abt 1.5 days to install esp start in the afternoon. the fxxking fuse box is a classic as took me almost 2 hrs to put it back in.

Mobil1, one more thing is you may not get the fog light indicator on dash as not wiring thru stick switch (just a guess). happy modding!!

Atjo
06-07-2010, 02:22 PM
Well if i put the foggies, it means that i need to drill holes on the front lip and it might be a problem if i'm selling the bodykit in the future. I don't mind if my bodykit is replica. 19" is too small, 22" is too big and 21" the tyres are too expensive unless you import it from US.

I ordered from a stockist in Singapore brand new approx SGD $560 part #08V31-SAA-000E & 08V38-SFE-F00 for my Ody with Modulo lip kit

From what I can see 08V31-SAA- is the foglamp itself (000E is blue lens), so 08V38-SFE is the mounting brackets and indicator stalk. For the Absolute bumper or what they call Aero package it looks like you need G00 (ie 08V38-SFE-G00)

Oh just to add... I think that bumper on yahoo Japan is missing the plastic mesh that sits behind the air dam

Julie just got back now saying this is what I need:

33901-SFE-023 SGD200: Right foglight
33951-SFE-023 SGD200: Left foglight

from the attached photo looks like it comes with the lamp house + bezel + bracket in one set..

They (and their supplier) don't know which attachment to go with it. Do you guys reckon I should get the same attachment as you guys? I think the attachment is more car related than foglight related you reckon??

btw SDG400 + SGD70 shipping for 2 foglamp housing is damn ex i reckon, better to just get it off that burned out car for AUD260 you reckon? theres no complication of missing wires or components..

Mobil1 I am getting confused here.... So the fog lamps from the burnt car is 260 or 390?

Looks like the Absolute foglights are sold differently from the ours. Seems like u still need the indicator stalk+wiring+fuse relay.

If you want to go with the burnt one, just make sure they pull the whole set out.

Mobil1
13-07-2010, 12:01 AM
sorry bro to confuse.

ok just need your help to clarify. Since the absolute foglamp housing + bezel + mounting is sold together. I assume from the point of the light bulb all the way to the control switch should be the same as you guys yeah?

ThianSeng doesn't know which attachment to go with the foglamps, and looking from the link you provided (ofcourse with the broken english translation), what I can make out of it is:

08V38-SFE-C00 No Vehicle control equipment for cars equipped with automatic light normal bumper mounted attachment [Vehicle fit: B, M]
08V38-SFE-D00 Auto light control equipment for cars equipped with Vehicle bumper mounted attachment Normal [Vehicle fit: L]
08V38-SFE-E00 Modulo Roasukato mounting attachment (front TypeZZ) No Car Auto Light Control Equipment Vehicle Equipment [Vehicle fit: B, M]
08V38-SFE-F00 Modulo Roasukato mounting attachment (front TypeZZ) Car equipment Car Auto Light Control Equipment [Vehicle fit: L]
08V38-SFE-G00 No attachment mounting M · for cars equipped with automatic light control for aero package [Vehicle fit: M-(Aero)]

C00 and E00 I reckon can be eliminated because its for cars with no Auto Light feature.

It "looks" like D00 and F00 are the same (both for Auto Light) except of the differnet type of mounting bracket it comes with.

G00 seems to be for cars with Auto Light but no mounting bracket. I think this is the part I should get as the absolute mounting bracket and bezel already comes as one with the foglamp housing (refer to photo below).

I don't think so at any point of time when they are referring to "Auto Light" they mean the AFS lamps that Absolute comes with yeah? Instead it means the light will turn on or off itself? LOL

Do you think G00 is the right thing for me now? gosh this is confusing and hard. LOL

PS: don't need to worry about the burnt car...

Bro,

You may be right that the attachments are more car specific than fog light related. After breaking down the Jap words individually, I think all 5 don't fit your needs fully

the first 4 part # descriptions seem to be correct, but 08V38-SFE-G00 actually reads as

取付けアタッチメント(Mounting attachment) M・エアロパッケージ用 (M · aero packages)
オートライトコントロール装備無し車用 (No Car Auto Light Control Equipment)
 [ 適合車種 : M-(エアロ) ] (Vehicle fit: M-(Aero))

The stupid google translation thing messed up the wording order. I am guessing because the Absolute models all come with the foggies as standard and this web site is an assories website, they would not list the parts required for the Absolute. Sorry for the earlier mis-information.

What varient are you driving? I assume a Luxury model with no front lip? Just a thought.... why don't you get

33901-SFE-023 + 33951-SFE-023 + 08V38-SFE-D00 Auto light control equipment for cars equipped with Vehicle bumper mounted attachment Normal [Vehicle fit: L]

Use the wiring+fuse+indicator stalk that comes with 08V38-SFE-D00, but use the Absolute foglights on the Absolute bumper. But this would mean that you would have a spare bezel set and brackets. Maybe you keep it for when you are selling your car, put back your original bumper with the foglights and sell the Absolute bumper with without the lens but with the bezels? Or Sell your car with the Absolute bumper and bezel only and sell the foglights + 08V38-SFE-D00 by themselves as a set?

Other than that I have got no idea... maybe you are right and should just get the burnt Absolute foggies.

AusAccord
13-07-2010, 09:01 AM
as far as i remember, wiring, relay, switch stick and all cable-ties/screws are come from one box which is a separate part nr. the foglight, bracket and bezel cover are come from another box with different part nr. i did not read thru all the translation above but would go thru as Evo advised, get the brand new wiring stuffs then get whatever you need from the burnt one (am sure the foggies mounting bracket on Absolute is different to M,L Type due to different bumper design). If you want to go thru everything new then i'm interested on buying the original bezel (subj to price and pic below) as may change my front lip.

So I've got the foglight harness pack now. Just wondering did everyone here fixed the foglights themselves? like front bumper removal necessary? did you follow the instructions and actually run the wires behind the bumper or just on top? Honda quoted about $132 just to fix it. My lamp housing and all is already on the bumper (been driving with a functionaless foglights)
