edit guys, i can actually move the driveshaft with my hand on the driversside i can twist it, it has bit of play is that normal>

no its not input shaft bearing, its when the car starts rolling it makes a clear distict clicking noise i thought it was engine mount first cause the sound is clear from that area

i had the same issue on my itr and so does my mates itr.
its got nothing to do with gearbox or drive shafts, we figured it out that it was the front pads sliding/moving in the caliper...

Hey guys just installed my new gearbox, its making a noise on takeoff with slight click, every so often when i engage it clicks loudly. When mechnanic installed the gearbox he said the driverside driveshaft was a bit longer and would need to be changed to one that fits ?

I thought all b series driveshafts were interchangeable? whats going on here?:????

I think you answered your own question,

take it back and get it fixed Sam. Something loose/broken/ill fitted. (loose rear mount etc)

C-clip on the end of the shaft?

thing is i need a diagnosis before i spend more money removing and replacing things that isnt the problem :(. when are you free ben?

dont look at me im in Japan sorry mate :)

As fatboyz said above - the C clip on the driveshaft MIGHT not be engaged and the driveshaft is slightly popping out upon driving - but you would be losing gearbox fluid if this was the case as the fluid leaks out of the non-sealed area. Note any fluid loss.

Perhaps one or both driveshafts are not overly held - 32mm hub nuts are loose might need a tigthen - or even lugnuts arent 108nm or so tight. Check it all that you can Sam.

Pop round on Sat if you havn't got it diagnosed by then & I'll have a look.
It could be as Ben described or something dumb like an inner or outer CV being a little rooted & binding up, that can also present similar symptoms.
We're up @ Thornleigh now though.
Cheers
