integra gsi and maybe a high kms vti-r

ej8 are in the price range aswell.

in this comment i will be covering the honda CIVIC in general, there are many other hondas but yeah. civic is known to be a reliable car that will get you from A to B with no problems. ofcoruse there are owners who bang the shit out of their civic but thats another discussion

your real choices are:
Hatchback or Sedan..

Your not going to get a good coupe with 6g's..
you will probably get a banged up one thats been thrashed and high kms.

the last thing you want on your hands is a nice looking car with a big repair bill okay.
your on your reds, you dont have money to spend on repairs.

hatchback: hard to get into the back seat.. but your the driver, so who cares!
models are (Honda Civic EG) and (Honda Civic EK).
EG is older than the EK.

I would say get the EK. - looks nicer, slightly newer, and so on.
EK comes in 3 models - CXi (can easily get this one), GLi (might have to look hard), VTi (you cant afford this one)
CXi attributes: Many on sale. no power options lol.. meaning no power windows, no power side mirrors, no tacho, no rear drum brakes. You'll get one of these for around 5gs to 6gs (idiots still price them at $10,000 dont know why)
GLi attributes: Very very few on sale. power windows, power side mirrors, tacho yes, rear drum brakes yes. You'll get one of these for around 6gs to 8gs
VTi attributes: Rarely on sale. everything in the GLi + sun roof and a much faster engine. You'll get one of these for.. 7gs to 12gs?

EG i am not too sure what models it comes in but..
i think it is similar to the EK style where one will come with power options and the other wont.

Sedan:
Basically the same as the hatchback where it will come in EG (old) and EK (new). (not sure exact model names)
had a look around for a bit but didnt really take much notice to these cars.
you will be able to afford some of these
they weigh more than the hatchback obviously but have a larger boot, larger rear seat..

really you should just be browsing carsales.com and stuff to search for prices.
i did ALOT of research (many hours of browsing carsales.com until i get headaches) on the EK since i decided i was going to get it.
so you may want to pick a car and do all the research you can on it!

when i searched on carsales my usual picks were
year: 1995 and above (u dont want anything too old)
price: under 7500 (you can bargain)
location: wherever you are
kms: under 150,000 (refine ur search to under 200,000 if your not finding anything, 160,000 kms may be fine)
as a rule of thumb, the more kms the car has the lower in price it should be, unless the car is in brand spanking new condition..

alots of the have sunroofs..

VTi model EG's have sunroofs, not sure about EK
I know some integra gsi's have sunroofs and dc2rs have sun roofs

most vti and vtir have sun roof

some of the lower end ones had them as an option

i would aim for a gli/vti/vtir civic or integra

if u see a 97+ prelude vtir in ur budget i would go for it as well

but really u will wanna go drive them all and see which one u like most

if your after a sedan dont get a civic sedan might as well get a accord
CD5 accord - reliable will get you from a - b with no problems
with 6g nowadays you could even pick up a cd5 with a h22a in it (prelude engine) or even the cb7 accord pretty good too
coupe... as the other members told you... with 6g you wont get much mayb a banged up em1
if you really want something cheap and dont care get a concerto... lol

I have to upgrade the brakes, but I picked up a bargain from an Ozhonda member for some DC2R brakes so I can upgrade the rear drums.

Bargains are out there you just have to have some patience and look around. Don't be afraid to make offers on cars. You never know what the seller will take if you dont ask. I got 1000 bucks off asking price. ;-)
