Hi all

I'm noob so please bear with me.
I'm about to replace the shock absorbers on my odyssey with kyb shocks. i've been quoted by a mechanic that it will cost about $1K (parts + labour). Does this sound reasonable or am I being ripped off?

Mine is 05 model.
Total km :100K

p.s not sure which model of kyb shocks though.

sounds like rip off, labour $50 per corner $200 labour
struts approx $500-$600

search around for quotes.
that is the best way to see if your getting ripped off.

hi ed,

thanks! if it's $200 per corner, that would already by $800. is that $50 for total labour? if so that sounds like quite a good price. i think the price for the shocks seems to be the same which was what i was quoted (abt $200 each) except that labour is more.
I'll check around.

I would have thought that is probably a reasonable price. I don't know what those shocks are worth though. Call a few retailers and get an idea for what the shocks are worth. Labour is normally around the 80-90 dollars per hour at most mechanics and you'd be looking at minimum 2hours for the whole car, probably closer to 3hours.

I've decided to install mine myself. Purchased a Haynes manual off ebay for 11dollars (I love ebay) and I'll be putting my ITR suspension into my DC2 next weekend. Maybe you could have a go too! : )

$50 per corner = $200 total labour. Shocks about $600?

Should be less than $1g either way, about $800ish.

Where do you live? Get a nice member here to show you!

My friend helped me put my rear sussy on, good learning curve.
Then we tried to put the new front sussy on buy had the wrong forks, so stock went back on again, then we got the right forks but it was WAY too low, so stock went back on for a second time LOL. Makes you wanna kill something when you take it off then find you have to keep putting it back on but I feel like I could do it with my eyes closed now.
