Ok then, as for getting a b16 in my car (eg vti sedan)
what would i need, whole front cut, or just engine??

also, what could i do with my engine??? (its only got 69, xxx Ks)

the rumor that you heard was probably a D-series DOHC non-VTEC block with a D-series SOHC VTEC (your engine) head.

B and D series engine parts are not interchangeable.

you'll need the front cut - including brakes.

Again this question seems to be regurgitated over and over again.

Guys I reopen the thread for the above question only. Please don't comment on the B series head on a D series block question. It already has been answered and I can expect a few smart arse comments. So please don't and lets help him out on his question.

which engine is it??? you could do the D16a8 (non-vtec) DOHC conv. This is a hard engine or go the whole B16a (vtec) swap! and it depends on $$$$$ you have to spend

Yeah i'd say it would be cheaper and easier to do the whole swap. Your messing with too many variables just trying to change the head.

Even if you could do it (which might be possible if you had enough money) the cost would outweight the benefits and performance

you cant change a DOHC with a SOHC

DOHC:

SOHC:

see...totally different!

the top pic is of the D16a8 DOHC non-vtec. this would be my choice! alot cheaper and just as fun as a B16a

D16a is boring!!!

ITs good, but b16a is much more fun to drive.

I dun think so. D16 and B16 are totally different. just like driving a different car.

The reason i ask is that i wanted to turbo BUT with these laws being implemented.... thats becoming out of the question untill i find out what age ppl are allowed turbo.

ALSO, Why would i need a half cut? I got discs all round alrewady, does an xtra 20kw merit new brakes? Does everything mate with the b16 ie aircon g-box

Where is cheapest place to get one???
Also where can i sell my engine and how much would it be worth (69,000 ks)

Mr. Focus

hmmm. after racing my mate with his b16a powered delslo, i wouldnt waste my $$$$. i hammered him!

anyways. not sure if you'd need a half cut, but you will need the g/box, computer, new engine mounts (possibly other gear too) and you'll be looking at around 4-8k to get it put in

well considering a turbo kit is bout that much... even less mayb... would that be a better option? better bang for buck?

Mr. Focus

PM egsi, he'll be selling kits in the new year.

if not, you'll just keep getting the d vs. b arguement.

what engine do you have BTW?

B16As are way over-rated - B18C from VTiR or DC2-R at least - or start looking at the K series for a real weapon.

Your turbo D-series will be a lot quicker than if you did a b16 swap into your civic (especially with those low k's)
