Heard a crazy mate of mine doin it in a crappy Mazda2 to increase RON! power blahh blahh

Does it work?

Worth a try, jus once?

Ration was 1L per 40L's

Turpentine does not significantly increase the octane rating. The ones which do are toluene, xylene (both extremely toxic) and ethanol (can use methylated spirits since that is 95% ethanol + 5% other crap).

all clear now bro ;) someone wana put up a metho to fuel ratio?? might give it a go on my D15 before swap

I wouldn't bother... just get the car tuned on '98 easy easy

Maximum 1L of methylated spirits for every 9L of fuel. But even that could corrode your seals and harden the fuel lines since the D15 was not built with ethanol in mind.

hold up......so does adding metho to fuel have similar if not same effects as using e10??

Yup, the same effect. You end up with soething like 93-94 RON if I remember correctly..

petrol chemical sentists get paid a bit for a reason, the advancement in most of the big comapnies premium unleaded petrol is amazing, not alot a home chemist will achieve apart from negative results and time wasted lol

however in diesel there's alot that can be improved...

if you want a cheap source of fuel buy a diesel car and run it on filtered cooking oil lol

far from the devil, got a good diesel coming soon, very very very clean running fuel

yeah i'm keen to see new diesels come out. It doesn't smeel as nice as petrol, and sounds like d*ck, but i don't mind if my small car gets 4L/100km

Indeed a deal with the devil

Im surprised Honda doesnt sell a diesel car on this market yet (could easily produce a golf competitor), theyre going to be out of the game in 10yrs as all the lil korean mobs have their models in existence with good r&d supplied

I actually have no idea why they don't, i think t hey have diesels in other countries, just not here.

a bro told me yesterday, there LPG injecting diesels which inturn ups out put power by as much as 50%

can anyone confirm this?

I actually have no idea why they don't, i think t hey have diesels in other countries, just not here.

The main reason for that is that in Europe for instance, petrol and diesel are significantly dearer than here (currently about AUD$2.28 per litre for both, in Britain), and diesel cars are more economical, so a much higher percentage of people buy diesel cars there. The average family car is also significantly smaller there, for the same reason. That's one of the reasons why Americans have such large, fuel guzzling V8 cars and trucks - fuel is much cheaper there than it is here -AUD$0.73 per litre. Try and find a diesel car there - they are much rarer than in Australia.

Uh WTF?? Ask your bro what he means. Can't imagine mixing LPG with diesel. You get a weird cocktail that doesn't really mix.

lpg injected diesels definitely doesnt sound right to me

aaronng yep, i thought same

http://www.dieselgas.com.au/ - explains a lot of it

then click on the 'fuel' tab

"The DieselGas Technologies System introduces up to 35% LPG to the fuel-mix, which acts as a catalyst, boosting the combustion process. This lifts the burn rate to 98%, increasing torque while reducing harmful exhaust pollutants by up to 90%."

ive heard of adding a few litres of 98 octance to a tank of diesel for more bang.

krogoth

^lmao, this guy

no point in adding shit to your fuel mate, because your ecu will not know there is different fuel in the tank

for there to be any benefit, you will need to get your ecu tuned

trism
11-07-2010, 05:20 PM
what the **** are you smoking? of course the ecu doesnt know there is something else in the tank. all it knows is that it needs to spit this much into the cylinder.

but adding things to the fuel changes the properties of it. and how it reacts in the combustion chamber

i think ur misunderstanding my post, relax

i was amused about ur idea of adding petrol to diesel

the 2nd two lines of my first post were directed to the OP, not you

maybe thats why you seem very angry?

as for different mixtures changing the reaction in the cylinder, yes that is right, but it doesnt mean there will be any increase in power if nothing else has been changed

whats the point of this octane rating if it doesnt actually increase useable power in any way or form and also can/will deteriorate the fuel system itself ?
Remember RON , is a indication of resistance to detonation ( and thusly more timing / more air can be used....more power ) It doesnt necessarily mean without tuning/ECU ability- that adding a mix of fuels/ will actually give any boost in said power.
