It just dosent feel like its very powerful anymore like it used to, at 5,500 when it usually kicks in , it just accelerates just a bit faster.

I bought my 94 GS-R car a month or 2 ago and i slowly realised now vtec is not kicking in, i have installed a new K&N Pod filter into the car only, and changed the speaker system in the car which meant fiddling around near the headdeck.

My temperature guage hasen't been working since i bought the car, i know that sometimes thats the problem but vtec was working for the first few weeks only started happening around when the air filter was put in.

Also when i first bought the car the mechanic said there was a little oil leak but nothing major to be fixed now.

Iv done a service on it, coolant and changed the oil with a high performance type of oil.

Thoughts on this?

Thanks

First of all, vtec pull in a stock dc2 vtir is not exactly a turbo pull so don't expect anything too major. Second, the vtec crossover in a Teg vtir is not really loud like the civics and its very faint. When I first bought my teg back in the days, I thought I had problems with the vtec as well and I actually dropped in to the Honda dealership and had them check it out. The mechanics took it for a drive while I was in the car. There was nothing wrong with it at the end of the day. Also, I hope you're not vtec'ing while the engine is cold because it wont kick it when its cold. At least not in my b16a civic or my teg vtir.

If you are still worried, maybe take it into Honda and get them to check it out :D

Agreed, should always let the car warm up first. If it definitely isn't engaging when it's at running temp, try using a multimeter and check the resistance ohms on the VTEC solenoid, if it's outside it's max which i think is like 17 (look it up on google) it wont kick in, even if it's just one ohm higher. This happened to me only a short while ago and i replaced the solenoid and sha-zam! It works!

ur tempt isnt working because of ur thermostat stuck open. $60 for a oem one and roughly $20ish to get installed.

Maybe ur use to the power now thats why it seems slower?
Can u hear vtech kick in? Are u sure ur at WOT? because vtech doesnt kick in on light throttle.
