need some help

i picked up a d16y1 to put in my twin carb auto civic it came with box harness linkages and drive shafts but i need a dizzy and an ecu is it possible to use an ecu and dizzy out of another model as im struggling to find standard ones as i dont want to pay what some of the wreckers want to charge also being that i dont have either can i use a non vtec setup and run an external vtec controller.

any help would be much appreciated.

yes u can, but u have put few extra wires dont remember at the moment which one was it but i will find out and let u know :)

You can use anotehr ECU but you might need a wiring conversion harness depending on which ecu you get.

For example, OBD2a to OBD1, etc

i dont have one atm so i was wanting to know if i get a non vtec ecu and matching dizzy could i still use them with the aid of an external vtec controller i was offered an ecu out of a gli so i thought i might be able to use that

Isn't it a bit too much hassle to run a non-VTEC ECU and a VTEC controller etc?

How much is the dizzy? Like $200? ECU can't be more than $50-100.

i have done both wreckers are chasing 400 each and i could buy a whole other engine for less then that

I'm going to my local wrecker tomorrow, will see if I can find one. Might call around some other wreckers too.

o.O... thats deffo to expensive, i can sell you my from d16y7 but u have to run i think 4 wires to get v-tec work. or try to get one from dismantlers.

what ur looms obd2b ? if so thats gonna be alright but if obd2a u need run conversion harness to fit obd2b ecu, also its not better to run p28 ecu and remap ? u can get them from ebay for 150 $ + shipment.

thats a bit of a joke. Last time I called they wanted $250. Start calling and writing down the names of the people you talk to, often you'll find different people will give you different prices. Which makes no sense at all
