Both are old now. Mathematically the h22a has greater potential going off the displacements but it depends how far you want to go and what your willing to do...

which one would make more power with the usual bolt ons
H22a type S (stock) with bolt-ons - 150kw ~
JDM H22a (stock) with bolt-ons - 140kw ~
B20vtec (depending what motor build) with bolt-ons - 125-140kw
With regards to h22a gearing, change the FD, gear ratio's or use a b-series gearbox

IMO go B20VTEC. Lots of options and support.

Yeah was looking into this, some very torquey motors .. Seems people like the h23 bottom end with vtec head ...
Benson, you would go h over b if u had your time again??
They don't rev very well wasn't sure if it'd suit the b series gearing ... Itr gearing anyhow.

Also apparently the h series is closest in design to the k series motors ...

If i was to do it again, it would be straight to K-series. K-series engine has far greater aftermarket support and potential. It is heaps cheaper in the long run
