D16A8 into EG5

I was just wanting to ask a question about an engine conversion my mate wants me to do. He has an eg5 vti (single cam vtec d16y1) but his motor has blown.

He is buying a d16a8 off me, but before he gets it im just wondering if its drop in, plug ecu in and play. Just curious because the d16y1 has vtec and the d16a8 doesnt...

I know when you add vtec conversion you have to add wires but what about in this situation?

same OBD1 wiring....so almost 100% drop in. All you need is the D16a8 dizzy , d16a8 ECU. Everything else is bolt up.

lol im doing pretty much same conversion....

as far as i know everything is 99% the same...just bolt in, plug in and roll..

driveshafts , gearbox , flywheel and clutch kit is different. You MUST use the d16a8 drivetrain all together , or use the other d16y together you cant mix n match.

Yeah the d16a8 is a complete motor and has its original gearbox/clutch/fly so i just have to make sure i use the d16a8 drive shafts? and there is no rewiring just plug ecu and play?

As you said, you have the gearbox and driveshafts all ready to go in, it's all out with the old, in with the new. You'll have to use the D16A8 ecu though. But everything else will be fine :)
