You can get sr20det's from Japan that are able to be run as FWD. Why bother though? if you're going to put the fwd sr20det into anything, the easiest swap would be into a pulsar.

Otherwise, it's not worth the trouble.

yeh mate anything is possible, it will be alot easier if its a fwd off a bluebird or somethin, but yeh depends how detirmined you are.. The physical size should easily go but you will definately have to get lots of the C word... (CUSTOM) Obvoiusly expensive...
if you want it bad enough you will find a way to do it.... dont let people on these forems spoil your goals... cuz i know from experience you get a fair few of those assholes on here...

As stated above, a transplant of this desire would require vast amounts of custom design. A FWD SR20DET can be found, however throwing it into a pulsar seems a more viable option. However if you wanna keep that kick ass honda look then go for it mate!

Biggie you have the Dohc D16a8 right? That I imagine would respond well to turbo! Basically the money it would cost to put in a sr20det in, if you spent that on a turbo kit, your D16 would dominate any stock SR20.

depending what engine you have, but in most cases, turbo your existing engine. ie. with the internals and a bolt on turbo kit. it will be alot easier and cost less than doing a "custom" installation of SR20DET into your civic. dont forget, it will be alot easier for you to get it engineered ;)

From what I've heard, a turbo H22A will still only pull mid 13 to 13 flat second quarters in an EG, which isn't all that fast for what? $10k worth? A B16A will only cost ~$4k and will get you to around 14 flat. Turbo that and you should be around the 13s with ~$10k, except the engine will be lighter. If you wanted, you could possibly put a FWD SR20DE into a Civic for ~$5k and then turbo that... At least then it'd be FWD. But yes, it's all a lot of money... and you won't see ANY of it when you sell your car. Sell it and get something with an SR20DET in it.

Sorry man, but u gonna need to spend a lot more than 4k to get a b16a EG to 14 flat... that 4k might cover the engine swap but u still gonna need a lot of mods to pull a low 14 pass

I think its crazy to SR20 a civic... Way too much money involved........yup especially when its just on a generalised turbo'd engine.. If you are really considering to convert with an engine from a totally different make, at least get something worth spending the money on. Dont get me wrong, I dont mind Sr20det's, they are good strong engines. After all I have one myself. However, seriously think about the $$$ involved, the power and torque you want to achieve from this engine.. is it really possible? Also turboing your current NA maybe a nice little challenge for you too. I would probably shop around a bit more, ring up a few places and ask their opinions.

Meh, after all blowing a turbo isnt that bigger issue.. I have gone thru three lol. :cool:

ok my prelude will run into the 12s quite easily... if you cant put a civic into low 13's-high 12's with the set up i have, let me drive:cool: lol haahaha

just kiddin. but theres a big weight difference between my lude and your civic, it couldnt be that hard having a proper 'built' bottom end and a T04 turbo hangin off it, no need to change cams or anything top end unless you wanted to go harder and set higher goals for the car.

but thats my 2c and also talking from owning a turbo honda experience.

possible = Yes

Cost = initial engine....plus parts.....plus custom fabrication work....plus engineering....plus brake upgrade....plus...misc.....plus RTA this and that.....= $$$$$.


Easier , cheaper , more reliable and probably overall better idea as im sure most have said here is to either turbo your exisiting engine ( no matter what engine it is ....a decent result !) , OR inplant a newer Dseries or B series or K series engine and OR turbo that one too.

I do not believe anything else needs to be said in this thread...perhaps research around some american sites as im sure someone has done this kind of conversion elsewhere- Best of luck !
