Once it expires you can't drive it from midnight of the date specified. If the car is un-registered for more than 3 months thats when you need a blue slip.

you can only drive the car after rego has run out, to go and get a pink slip, which u need to be carrying documentation showing that you are driving to get it as proof.

you will need a blue slip after rego has run out after 3 months.

ur mates dont know what they're talking about. you CANNOT drive after rego has run out other then the reason i said above.

if you don't purchase 6 months rego before 21 days of the regos expiry date then you will have to purchase 12 months rego.

as stated, there is NO grace period for registration. Once it expires, you are driving and unregistered vehicle which incurs over 1k in fines.

It also deemed any car insurance you have as void, meaning any property damage you do if you have an accident that is your fault, is your responsibility to pay

You may also be liable for some of the injuries sustained by others under the CTP scheme

You can drive your car for the purposes of getting a pink slip and registration, but a the rules are grey and simply state you must be in the most direct route from your house to the closest pink slip station and then to the RTA. Up to the officers discretion here.

You CAN get 6 months rego, but you must do it online, it must be a registration renewal, and you need to do is soon after the registration is due
