Premium fuel required?

Hey guys,
i just came to realise that my honda crx del sol 94 required premium fuel only?
for about 3 weeks i have been putting in regular unleaded fuel (not e10 trash) without knowing that it requires premium o_O!! (i only recently purchased the car)

ummm would this damage my engine in anyway?
what difference does it make whether i put in unleaded or premium fuel?

use either 95 or 98 octane rating. BP, Mobil, Shell, Caltex are most popular stocking these types of fuels.

You shouldnt have gone through that much petrol in 3 weeks.. Soo highly unlikely you did any damage to the engine..

B16 was designed to run on higher octane petrol ( premium) , so you might as well fill it up with what it was designed for..

Car is released with statistics about the car from factory, running on the recommended fuel. So in reality, if you dont use the recommended fuel, you will most likely experience poor fuel economy/performance.

yeah i kinda felt that the past week, fuel seemed to be running out faster than what my friends had told me and lack of power o_O

Don't worry. The ECU compensates by adding more fuel to protect the engine by running rich. That is why your fuel consumption was high. So you shouldn't have done damage in the 3 weeks. Just fill your car up today with 98 RON to increase the octane of the fuel that is already in your tank. You should get close to 95 RON if you have half a tank of 91 and half a tank of 98.

Isn't 91 kinda crap anyway? I only use 95 in my D16Y1 and 98 in my B16A.

91 is not crap its just octane ratings. most cars are fine to run on 91. the higher compression and timing in the b series compared to a sensible family car calls for a higher octane rating though so its recommended

I thought that the Octane rating just determined how fast the fuel burns, but that premium also had additives to keep your injectors and all that clean?

Yep - Just a note... Even in your instruction manual, it should say it is 'recommended, however if no premium fuel is available, 91 unleaded petrol may be used'. It also says you should drive lightly if so, and that you will experience a power loss. So you should be fine!!!
