Hey guys,

So I'm finally getting my first car in a bit of time and have around 5k to spend. Of course it's going to be a honda but I just don't know what. I'm a DIY freak and will do pretty much every modification and installation myself.
So I've narrowed down my choices (from highest preference to lowest) to the Integra, Civic EG or EK (hatch or sedan???), and the Accord.
I really like the integra because of the 1.8 litre engine and just the overall styling to the car. However, there really aren't too many of them for 5k on the market (especially when I'm planning to get a white one).
The Civic EG or EK are both really nice cars but I'm put off by how small the engine is (especially the breeze version of the EG). Also I'm not sure about whether to choose the hatchback or sedan. Vti-R's are just out of my price bracket, but I wouldn't mind some info on them.
Finally the Accord is not really what I'm looking for but I have seen some potential in them from browsing around the forum.

If you guys could help me make this decision and why or why not I should choose certain cars, that would be really great. Hope I put this thread in the correct forum :S

Cheers guys :honda:

- How much can you stretch the budget ?
- Manual or Auto ?

You can try and look for Gen 5 ludes VTIR. They can get as low as $6,xxx. This is the advertised price so you can negotiate further. Alternatively maybe a Gen 4 lude. Otherwise you can simply buy an EG civic GLi or Breeze and save up further and buy an eg6 or eg9 front cut. Then if you are confident enough, you can do the engine transplant yourself. If you already have a day to day car to drive, why not save up further and have the money to buy what you really want ? I had an integra vtir and also an eg civic si sedan with a b16a engine transplant. I personally preferred the civic over the integra :D

I'll be getting a manual. If I'm lucky, I might be able to get an extra $1000 from my dad, but I was planning to have a bit of extra cash for mods. wow I didn't realise the gen 5 ludes went that low! The problem is that once my brother get's his liscence in a few weeks then I'll be fighting to drive the family car, so I pretty much have to choose now. I'm now starting to lean towards the civic because I find myself fitting in them a lot more comfortably than the integra (i'm 6 ft 2").
Appreciate the advice man!

Cheers

buy a cheap Civic, do nothing to it and save for a VTi-R Integra or Civic.

As Red suggested, probaly just buy a cheap reliable eg civic gli or something and drive it around. Whilst in possesion of the car, you can save up your $$. During this time, you can also decide what you want to do with the money you are saving. Transplant or sell and get a new car. If you decide to sell the civic, you're more than likely to sell it at the same price as what you initially paid for it (provided you didn't spend tons on it at the start).

As a few members suggested get a carby eg civic then save up for a vtir teg they are pretty nice a have good potential hard to find one that hasn't been driven hard but. or if u want an accord get a cd5 accord and do a h22a conversion!!
