View Full Version : Why does my Jazz have a bogus idle speed when warm?

My 2005 Honda Jazz VTi-s (cvt model) has a bit of an idle problem.

It cold starts fine and idles smooth (allbeit maybe a little low at about 1100rpm), but once the car reaches opperating temperature, the idle starts to go a big un-steady, it will sometimes rev well at 800ish rmp, then it will climb up sharply but not like a bouncey revving to about 2000rpm, then it may settle back and work its way up and down, but like I say, not bouncing, just works its way up and down over the space of 2-3 seconds.

I know the car was in a front end accident before I got it, but I don't know if this was the cause of something to force the car to idle the way it does or not.

it could be anything really, fuel pump, fuel injectors, even a ecu

Do you experience "shudder" on takeoff? Has your jazz had a transmission flush recently? Could have had a ecm/pcm reset, and the idle is not learnt? bring it into a honda dealership and get it scanned for DTC's. Could be a sensor .
