Hi,

I have just purchased a K24 motor and am looking into computers to get for it, just wondering if anyone had any ideas into what i should look for. Looking for a solid street tune while also being able to head for the track if that makes any difference....sorry for noobness.:o

Cheers Marty

Haltech.
Better support if anything goes wrong with the ECU. More features. Easier to tune. Go talk to Adrian from TODA. He personally likes the haltech better than the hondata.

But hondata is proven to work pretty sweet. Seeing as its made for hondas only.
Depends what youre after.

Kpro is so much easier though, going haltech, it's only really necessary if you have a non standard motor which is pretty, nuts. Even then, i'd be using a VIPEC.

Really? It's odd that it's so difficult when the Haltech just plugs into the factory DC5 S, R, EP3 or K-swap loom, turn the key & the car runs ay?
Don't think the LinkG4 / VIPEC does that does it... heck the K-Pro doesn't even do that either... ;)
What's even more strange about the Haltech vs Hondata is the live tuning with no upload time. Damn... what to do with all that time saved...
Hmmm, maybe do a better job... Damn! I must have blinked when the hard stuff happened... LOL
Using a Sport 1000 takes a little more effort but it's still easy... Vtec, VTC etc all works... Just can't do the damn fly-by-wire on CL9/FN2
Still... don't knock it till you try it... :p

Anyway, enough shit stiring
You won't go wrong choosing either the Hondata or Haltech systems as both are very good...

I reckon with the research and development of the Kpro, you cant beat it. Unless you have a 10k budget for an ECU, the next best thing is probably a MOTEC.

Haltech eat major dick lol. I hate their software. Thats why I hate it.

I don't know what their new stuff is like though.

Ok.... Gosh I didn't expect such a balanced response Chris.
Infact it's right up there with being subjected to the magnificence of Benny's "Recon"
LOL

To the OP,
I've used both, both are very good products. Neither without issue.
The Hondata's major downfall is tune time with troublesome upload & limited set-up parameters.
Haltech's only real disadvantage is price, that said you actually get a new ecu with the Haltech.
Anyway...

HKS Fcon Vpro, if you can find anyone that knows how to tune it.

Adrian, what ecu management do you reckon will work well with my CL9.
I have: comptech intake, maximwork header, test-pipe, lightweight pulleys
I will: stage 2 cams (blueprint or brian crower - want for street/daily gains), valves, retainers

Do you think i will gain much by advancing VTC with that setup?
If we're not changin VTC then Haltech platinum should work well wouldnt it?
Otherwise, as it stands, im waiting for k-pro to return.

What do you reckon?

I think Adrian does it for $1500 tuned and installed last time i checked.

Actually the Platinum Pro is a standalone ecu, your thinking of the Platinum interceptor which is different.
For your car, a Platinum Sport 1000 will easily the job though you'll probably have a check light.
Does Ignition, fuel, vtec, vtc etc... just cant do fly-by-wire. (same as FN2 CTR which it works great with) :)

PM me for Platinum Pro prices (DC5R/DC5S/EP3)

Another ECU that popped into my head is the autronic sm4

Awesome ECU. Basic tuning can be very easy. HEAPS of features but its fiddly.
I got the opportunity to play with that ECU for a tafe course and let me tell ya. We wired up gearbox solenoids to the thing... Ended up blowing the box but it still ran it for a few good hours lol.

Will set you back 2grand+ ecu only.
