Hi guys,

I'm about to negotiate and purchase a Civic Sport MY10. I'm debating what accessories I should try get for free / discounted as part of the deal.

I also am interested in other people's opinion as to whether certain 'genuine' Honda accessories (such as door sill garnish - illuminated front only, door / window visors) are worth it, or if buying aftermarket ones (found on eBay) are just as good in terms of a flush fit, build materials, quality, etc.

Thanks in advance :)

Definately genuine better than ebay aftermarket, you get what you pay for.
Branded aftermarket is just as good as genuine Honda though.

Thanks for the replies :) - I don't know what are good 'branded' aftermarket stuff yet, so I'll just stick to OEM stuff from Honda first (as mentioned in original post).

Sorry for the newb question, but for future reference: would my civic MY10 be an FD2? Or would it just be an FD? Are they the same thing? Or does the FD only cover MY06-MY08? And FD2 = MY09-MY10? Sorry, I'm new to all this and it's gonna be my first 'New' Honda (first 'New' car ever actually).

Thanks again! :)

Go for OEM. try for window visors, floor mats, may be the door sills too

go Mugen for visors :) oem is too plain looking. Floor mats definitely oem.

I ended up getting the following extras:
Tailored mat set; OEM
Rear spoiler wing; Modulo
Door sill garnish; front illumination only
5x5 warranty; Honda & road side assist.
Sat Nav system; Eclipse AVN726EA

Not free of course! But they gave me a massive discount in the end compared to other local dealers I've spoken to.

The door visors I want are these ones I think http://www.sgcarstyling.com/sgcar/images/images_big/civicmuvisor.jpg

Wow. look, you have a pretty deal with them huh? So you gonna have to change the whole things in the dashboard (Facia) to fit the Sat nav. How much doest it cost the Sat Nav? It must be aftermarket product offer from third party other than Honda. The door visor is Mugen, i surely guess

symostar
24-07-2010, 10:06 PM
the total installation of the sat nav - including; 1) rear view cam, 2) ipod/iphone connector, 3) the dashboard panel = $3000.
I think it could be cheaper if done personally, but as I am financing the vehicle, the dealer will get it done for me as part of the package... :)

I've done a bit of research on the AVN726EA and from all reviews, it's a great little system. Apparently Clarion will release one soon in Australia similar, but with additional features, but no idea on price / availability / model yet? :) I'll get some pictures up for you guys when I get my baby :)

Nice work on the upgrades man. $3000 is definitely a bit steep for the package...I'd rather spend that on an aftermarket satnav/stereo system. But like you said since you're financing might as well save the hassle and do it all at once :)

what kind of visors? I didn't know OEM Honda had mugen visors

Stig

wow 3k, thats alot lol

OEM honda doesnt have mugen visors... mugen visors are aftermarket, BRANDED aftermarket :p

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the OEM Honda window visiors sold in Australia are not the real Honda Access ones as sold in Japan. The Real Honda Access ones have brackets and screws to secure them to the window frame. All I've seen so far here are just using 3M tape, which is the same as the e-bay ones.

Honda OEM are these... :zip:

Yeah.. $3k! A lot, but I think it will be worth it as everything is integrated and it leaves plenty of opportunity to add on additional speakers etc, plus it looks cleaner? the GUI looks very cool and easy to use as well. Instead of opting for the rear park assist, I'll be getting rear view camera :)

Info at Eclipse AVN726EA (http://www.eclipse-web.com.au/Site/Product/Product.aspx?ProductID=f7525562-7e92-102c-afa9-8fd06794b0b4&CategoryID=04031090-406c-102b-b5be-3e5906103f0c)

^ the one symostar posted looks cheap

^ the one evolution posted looks alright

Also I'm surprised OEM Honda opted for an Eclipse unit...

the GPS on these aren't that great from what I've seen

no no, this is a deal that is unique to the Honda dealer I am going with. I don't know that Honda Australia actually has any GPS systems?

xenonkuraz
24-07-2010, 10:56 PM
Probably not...but there's a nice stock looking satnav system available online.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/AES-7-HONDA-CIVIC-SAT-NAV-CAR-DVD-GPS-NAVIGATION-CIVIC-/320542428472?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4aa1d14d38

Note...looks good. But probably not anywhere near as functional as the Eclipse unit

Yeah, looks pretty sweet and the price is very nice too :) - wonder if anyone here has got one installed?

tinymoon

$3000 is a big step for package of Headunit with Sat Nav. Sound about right with the price because i get quoted Alpine Headunit with Sat Nav and Reverse Camera is $2600 w/oinstallation. Clarion is one of the best headuit out there in the market (heard from Gold Coast Car Sound stores - member of Car Audio Master). I would go for Mugen Visors, it looks stylist and nicer than others. The onlything is i realldy do not think it is the most neccessary accessories for my car (24/7 climate control ON) :-D.

I will post my Alpine Headunit when done next two weeks, lets see your soon. Congrat on new car and nice toys

I get the whole package special deal which is $2800: IVAW502A, 7 speakers (center speaker, DDL RT17S and 17C speakers, MRA-F355 5.1 theatre amp, PLT-5 LAT Sub as well as reverse camera ($100 instead of $399). The BMD P100E NAV SAT is $800 icluded the cable (not a docket as it sounds) to connecct to headunit (i am still thinking of it for now because i have a Tom Tom).

hmm i only paid $400 for gps addon for my kenwood head unit :p with 3k you can get decent sound system setup.

oh so the sat nav dock is 800$, always been curious to how much it costs

still tossing up either to get the sat nav dock or just spend a fraction of the price and just get a navman

Wow, 3k for the system seems a tad overpriced in my opinion, however, if your happy with it, its all sweet. plus, you save the hassle :) you must be cheering about the car, lucky guy!!

$800 for a NAv Sat device and dock. If you have head unit, you can use the device to plug in and use the head unit screen for navi, you even can take the device to the other car as well.

Take a look to see how expensive it is. :P I really do not know it worth the money or not, but in some show-off case it look nice, i have seen it in Subaru and Toyota. Yet, it has ACC WMA and Mp3 player buil-in.

Yup, i am not a fan of Whereis map as well, i have google map on Iphone and Nokia Ovi Map work just fine for me to hang around without getting lost. I ask my installer, they said, 820 for everything (Navi and docking cables). I will saave that 800 for other things and wait until they drop the price.

Sorry to intrude on the FD forum guys (I'm an EK owner) - I was wondering if anyone knows if FD door sills will fit on an EK? Or does someone have the dimensions (length x width on front + back) they can give me so I can measure it up myself (tried searching net but couldn't come across dimensions)?

If not, I can try and find out from my Honda dealer, but thought someone might know...

Thanks guys,
Alvis :)

I would get the genuine Mugen visors, Kingmotorsports.com is the legit supplier in the states, they are not cheap, but are good quality and hella sexy on our cars!

Thanks for the tip! I've looked at the site to check out the visors.. not cheap! I'll be getting some quotes on price including shipping here to Australia.

Well ladies and gents! Today.. is... THE DAY! I pick up my new baby girl from the maternity ward! hahah... have taken some pictures of her stock standard sitting in the prep room, with less than 15km on her. But I'm not sure how to upload photos to this forum yet (I've only worked out how to link photos on websites, etc). So once I figure that out, I'll start posting some pictures up! :D :D :D

This might not be exactly the right thread, I'm after more spare parts but I found this site in the US:-

http://www.handa-accessories.com/

Is there an Australian alternative?

Yeh, that site is a bit limited though. Here are some sites which carry good JDM parts (I'm assuming that's what you're after):

http://www.rhdjapan.com/

http://www.jdmuniverse.com/

http://www.andysautosport.com/

http://www.optionsauto.com/ (personally dealt with for CTR front spoiler and no problems)

Apart from that join the US Honda-Tech forum so you can search parts for sale threads (all the guys I have dealt with have been good, goes without saying tho always use PayPal)

http://www.honda-tech.com/forumdisplay.php?f=132

Hope this helps,

Ok cool, your dealership should be able to help you out with most of these.

You can buy them from the US, but you'll find the shipping is often more than the actual part itself

I was wondering if there was any discount stores? Prices vary from Dealer to dealer from experience when I had an EK.

I'm not sure on that one mate...

I know with my local dealership, and because my family has bought 2 cars from there, they give us the trade price when selling us parts - it might only be 5-10% off but better than nothing I guess...
