My EG reverse light dont work.. It hasnt been working for the last 4 months but now its just getting on my nerves lol..

I checked the fuses, from the inside and the fuse box on the engine bay.. Seems like everything was ok..
Bulbs been changed.. Wiring from bulb socket is still intact.. Hmm but i still dont know what's the problem? lol i was thinking it must be some connector or something that got dirty or loose..

any help would be great  thanks

check to see if plugs are still plugged in.

i had an i30 come into work and when doing light check neither of the #plate lights were working. looks like the plug was unplugged from new when a towbar was installed or something.

which plug? the light socket plug? i was thinking of some random plug from the gearbox? coz it started not to work after i had a mad ass oil leak lol

Find your reverse switch on the gearbox.
Unplug the connector. Get a straightened paperclip or any sort of straight wire. With the ignition on, probe 1 side of the connector to the other with it UNPLUGGED from the switch.

This will be the same effect as when the car is in the reverse gear.
Observe the rear tail lights. And the reverse lights should be on. If it goes on, your reverse switch is faulty.

If it isnt, you either didnt probe the right connector or something is faulty in the wiring. Best to do a continuity test into the connector. If there is no continuity, theres a break in the wires. If there is continuity, and your taillights did not turn on with the probe test, check the connectors on the tail light.
The pins could have lost tension and are not making contact or there is poor ground somewhere.
If it still doesnt work after that... you have a real problem, given that youve checked all fuses. lol

hmmm.. i'll check that.. Do you have any idea where the connector on the gearbox could be?

Well on a typical manual gearbox the reverse switch will be the only switch located on the gearbox housing.
There are gearbox's out there than have a speed/outputshaft speed sensor located on the diff.

Just find a plug on the gearbox housing. Unplug it and backprobe the connector, not the switch. And do the checks there.
