I was wondering what LSD would fit in a cl9 gearbox?
Any chance that a oem Honda LSD from a k20 gearbox would fit?
And would the gear synchros from a dc5r fit?

The DC5R's LSD will fit the Euro box. Message aaronng about it - he's done it :)

Yes, K20A LSD will fit. You might or might not need to shim it to get it to fit perfectly depending on which car the LSD came out of. Don't need the speed sensor gear since the CL9 uses wheel speed sensors.

Make sure you the LSD from a DC5R or a CL7 Euro R. Wouldn't make sense to take the diff from a regular DC5 since that is an open diff.

With regards to synchros, it won't fit because the CL9's gearbox uses triple cone synchros for some gears.

If you want shorter ratios, look at importing a CL7 EuroR gearbox from Japan instead. That will have your shorter ratios and the LSD already in it. You need the right gearsets which might not even exist for the CL9 transmission case because mixing and matching will give you the wrong tolerances on the mesh of the gears which puts stress on the gears and cause premature failure.

DC5R most probably won't fit on the Euro. The gearbox is a different size and the mount might not match up with the transmission mount on the Euro.

Thanks for the insight, mind i ask what time you got at wakefield with the lsd? Is labor expensive to fit the lsd? And what clutch/flywheel combo are you using?

Got 1:17.2 using RE001 tyres. Labour is expensive because the subframe has to be dropped which involves removing 2 engine mounts and the transmission mount, the steering rack needs to be disconnected from the subframe and finally the gearbox removed. The the gearbox has to be drained and taken apart too. I strongly recommend you use workshop that regularly pulls apart Honda gearboxes. Since you have everything off, I recommend you replace your clutch and flywheel at the same time if those are parts that you intend to change in the future. If you ever plan to install a stiffer front sway bar, so it at the same time too.

Yea im planning to change clutch&flywheel aswell, which combination are you using right now? IF it is an aftermarket one, how much more effort is it required to drive, is it nosiy at all for daily driving?

Go for the JDM DC5R flywheel and an Exedy Sports Tuff HD clutch. That's the combo I'm using and it's the same Chris F was using. Aaron is using a stock DC5 clutch and from what he's told me, it doesn't grab hard enough (as it's intended for a lighter, less-torquey car).

I'm not sure if the same applies for all non-OEM flywheels, but mine makes a light grinding sound when you're off-throttle.

Using the Exedy Lightweight flywheel HF02 (k20a size) with the Exedy OEM replacement K20A clutch. I recommend you go for Exedy HD or Exedy Sports Organic instead. The OEM spec clutch for K20A is weaker than the Euro's stock clutch because of the smaller diameter.

With Exedy OEM/HD/Organic clutches, it is not noisy. You will have to adjust a little bit for the lighter flywheel but that is easy.
