The only time it's worth going to a workshop is when you have BIG plans and MAJOR mods on the list.
Going there for little mods will only make your wallet lighter.

I've had my DC2 taken there for a complete exhaust upgrade with a hi-flow cat. Before the project begun, they quoted me a great price. However, during installation I had to keep paying up for extra parts saying all this sh*t don't fit in my car and the boss kept telling me its hard work etc. I mean, weren't that part of the quote when you bring it there? And I am paying you to do the work.

My car also died when they were backing out of from the lift jack. That's not their problem, but without diagnosing the problem correctly they tried to tell me my fuel pump was dead (which is wasn't) and they quoted my almost $200incl labor (Not even genuine, Walbro one's don't even cost that much) for them to replace on the spot for me because the car won't move. Later on I managed to start it and so I went home, logged onto Ozhonda and just found out the relay failed... which is a DIY job to fix...

They are probably very skilled at tuning etc and I don't doubt their professional work. But it's funny how I am told that they treated my car 'with care' because later they found out that my gf were friends with the people there. Wait... maybe I do doubt the professionalism...

Goodluck to taking your S there. I know I won't take mine.

Chaser's are more suited to mod and tune other jap cars such as skylines, supra's, silvia's and wrx's. I called him in regards to have a diff rebuilt and the response i got was "good luck" and he actually proceeded to laugh at me thinking i was going to get one through him. I have a mate who has a s15 GT spec R and he takes it there with no problem although i dont trust they're knowledge with s2000's. a better place where i feel confident is CRS automotive in paterson lakes or hondworld in clayton. Hondatech in thomastown seem a bit dodgy and they're work shop is a mess...PM me if you want they're contact details and details of others.

Foot note: if you do some research on the CRS and hondworld, you will see the kind of experiance people have had and they tend to have a decent reputation with those on s2ki.com

Thats because Chasers don't do gearbox work inhouse, everything to do with gearbox/diff rebuilds they send to a specilist and charge you extra, skip the middle man I say.

ok well im getting plenty of suggestions so this is good =) i have developed a short list of places i think ill visit after work and over the w/e, and they dont include the chasers workshop, i figure you guys have been down my path before and know what your talking about so perhaps its best to leave them alone.

Just letting you know that we don't actually have any shops here that are anything like the usa. Where they specialise in the S2000, Tune and race their own s2000 and import in parts so you can just walk into the showroom and there's a bunch of parts just laying there... for the s2000 of corse.

YLDS2K

that would be a good business venture to take on. hmmmmmm kind of like designing a 'Toys r' Us' for s2000's parts off the shelf and you could have a exhaust section, suspention section, wheels, tires, and even a show and shine every few months.

Im starting to foam from the mouth just thinking of it lol

my mate take his s15 there and says he only trust two guys there with his car....i was actually considering going there this wknd to get my rack and pinion replaced on my honda civic eg but now i'm definetly having 2nd thoughts...
i reckon hondworld is dodgy as...well, they're dodgy with parts. good luck finding somewhere...
otherwise could always DIY =)

I mean if u want to get some work done, at least quote and get the FINAL PRICE make sure he won't add to the bills later...Man I was just waiting there before while the boss was serving a customer with an EVO 8-9 (can't remember exactly) but he kept telling people tt's hard work, we have to do this and that. To me, it feels as though he is drumming up the price, he isn't even the one working on the car ffs.

My opinions aside, be careful about what you say with workshops.
There's a fine line between defamation and "opinion".

As far as I know, like Vyetz said... there's no S2000 specialist that I know of here. Nobody here is truly interested in the performance side of things with that car...
I mean - parts are scarce, what makes a dedicated workshop feasible?

ok i didnt end up going to the chasers workshop after a few of the bad responses from people on here, i did however visit cosmic performance in lyndhurst, and its not a bad setup for someone who is running the business out of his garage atm lol, but i sorted a couple of things out, if course the first question was what did i want from the car to which i couldnt give him a straight answer right away but since have come up with what i would like =)

every single workshop in Vicco seems to have someone saying something bad about it. Why can't there just be one workshop that doesn't have any horror stories :( sucks, but i guess its probably never gonna change. How much work are you planning with your S2k. if it's just bolt-ons then you should really try DIY. but if it's internals, yeah could be a tall order going DIY.

I know COSMIC loves his WRX's but i know a few Quality Honda's he has been involved with.

starting with exhaust and intake, and it will be tuned at cosmic performance (that's the plan anyway) dunno if i will install the exhaust and intake myself yet, but ill see when the time comes.

instead of paying cosmic $100 to install your exhaust I'll do it for you for $100 :) LOLL

yeah man, that is stuff you can easily do yourself in a couple of hours or so + feels so much more satisfying when you know you've installed it yourself

been told the head mechanic there is pretty good but when hes not around thats when sh*t hits the fan

This statement is very true from personal experiences...

I had my accord euro tuned there, and Paul the tuner is a really nice guy, and he seems genuine and knows his sh*t. But when I picked up my car after taking it back for a retune, my dash had all of these lights that didn't go away.
Basically there response was "well, its a piggy back unit, so yeh... these things happen. Do you really need traction control?"

grrrr... anyway, has anyone tried this place "http://www.revzone.com.au/"?

grrrr... anyway, has anyone tried this place "http://www.revzone.com.au/"?

i have had my cars tuned there and there only..........i recommend them 100%.....never ever had a problem with them......
people complain that they charge a bit too much, i wouldnt know as i do all my own shit apart from tuning.........
but you usually get what u pay for when u go to revzone...

you usually get what u pay for

This statement is true in all walks in life, not just modding!

The only time things stuff up can be traced back directly to me going the cheap route.
