hi guys

has anyone tried to put an ek9 lsd to an ek4 gearbox? to my understanding, the ek4 and ek9 gearboxes are both S4C, have the same ratios and final drive. Only difference is the LSD.

So the question is, what is required to fit an EK9 LSD into an EK4 S4C gearbox?

Thanks and appreciate your help!

You need the EK9 LSD & EK9 4.4 ring gear to fit said LSD. (B16A ring gear is smaller & doesn't fit B16B/B18C LSD)
+ preferably use the EK9 countershaft too so the pinion gear is an exact match, but if you're stuck the original EK4 countershaft will be fine.
(EK4 & EK9 countershaft is essentially the same with the same 1st counter gear bearing & 15 tooth pinion)

Re ring gear,

Other way is to use a dc2 VTIR box which does not need the larger FD and is also 4.4FD.
The LSD will be able to be dropped in, which is what i ended up doing as it was easier.

Or you get a OBX LSD or something for an ek4

aren't dc2 boxes slightly longer than ek4 boxes, gear ratio wise?

yes slightly, that's the only drawback, but for what i wanted it was fine
