Hey Guys,

need some advice. looking at getting a weekend car. up to this point been looking at 4th gen but i have stumbled across a 5th gen.

good points;
engine runs good has been maintained, no sludge on cap etc.
its a vtir
manual
really clean BUT;
no rust
owner has agreed sell price of $5000 no rwc take it as is

bad points;
resprayed in a totally different colour to the original. it has been registered in new colour
steering wheel has bad sun damage
rego is due in couple of months.
one wheel is buckled.
sunroof retracts roughly - wd40 apparently will fix the problem? thats what the owner said
No RWC.
front brakes due
very typical wear and tear for a 13 year car

considering its $5000 i think its good value untill i add up cost of above.
main concern is the fact that it is not original colour (visible upon bonnet lift)

what do you guys think. im in no hurry as i have my work car already just looking for a weekend toy. should i do it ? im just a little concerned about resprays because its totally different to original, Although the spray has been done well im just worried it may be hard to sell in the future

You need to know why the colour was changed,
Personally if the colour has been changed at the bay was not done i dont want the car, Im fussy like that and yes it could have been a damaged car. Melb is apperently easy to rebirth but i dont know that for a fact.

Sun roof would require some greese

Buckled wheel could be from an acco and explain the paint work

OMG.JAI xD

Best to get a history check on the car.
Get a mechanic that knows what theyre looking at, to try and spot any signs of body/chassis RnR.

Cheap cars are very tempting, yes. But if you do not have any connections with mechanics or panel shops, it may end up being the same price as an average prelude minus the hassles.

And not to stereotype, but if its a young bloke/chick that is selling the car. Be very cautious. Most legit cars for sale that are cheap are usually sold by older citizens with genuine intent to sell the car. Not to get rid of a lemon.

Always think twice. 5grand now can end up being 10 grand down the track.
