there should be a book somewhere and you can look up the colour in the book it will say what year the colour goes from and to... then go to super cheap as it is cheaper there and buy it. the spray cans are quite good ive had to use them a couple of time to fix a few marks... if there is no book ask the parts people to find out what you cars colour is...
u can always take ur fuel lid with u ... and match it with the spray can cover

the person who sold me the car did it to it and it looks ugly.
They probably didn't match up the correct white, but it annoys me- not that it's terribly noticable but I will occasionally see it and think its a dirt mark/bump and try to wipe it off and realise its not >_<

I know a guy who did his own colour coding using them... unless you know its not original paint .. you cannot tell unless your within 1 meter of the painted panel.. even then if your that picky you shouldn't be at *SUPER CHEAP* auto... if your after a professional finish get it resprayed somewhere reputable which electronically find the right colour for you from your existing panels.

ohhh.. silver aye?
silver is one of the hardest colours to match according to my local spraypainter/smash repair...
pay an extra $20 and get them to mix u a car as per |N| .. Use ur fuel cap
