Hey guys, got a quick noob question. How do you know what ECU you have by looking at the ECU alone? All i got on it is a few numbers. The ecu was put into the car by a workshop and now im questioning everything they did, so don't know what car its originally from.
Help?

You can look up those numbers on the net to see what car that ECU originated from.

Thanks for a quick reply. i've just put taken a pic. Looking in the middle of the top row, does this mean its a p29 ecu? I would need a p28 for a d16y1 wouldn't I?

yes that's a P29 ECu. looking at this ----> http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?98013-Honda-ecu-list

would suggest the P29 is for a D16A ZC DOHC

Which is not what you want, you want a P28 for D16Y1.

This is how to tell whether its auto or manual

all this was found by an easy google search

Did you get a workshop to finish off your ED - D16Y1 swap?

Thanks heaps!

No my old ed sedan was converted by a workshop about 4 years ago to d16y1, but they took more then 6 months and really bodged it up. Only now that im doing this myself and learning more i can see just how many problems the car had. Atm im doing a swap from my ed d16y1 manual sedan into my new ed d15 auto hatch.

I know you created a thread about the swap but haven't seen any updates for ages. so thought maybe you got a workshop to finish off the ED hatch

the ECU you have is just as good as a P30 and P28 once the P29 have been modified

ECU-MAN, can you please elaborate more on how the p29 can be modified to work to control vtec and so forth with the d16y1 properly or is this just a service that you offer? (i've read you do work on ECUs). PM me if you wish.

Thanks in advance!
