Type R gearbox LSD

Hi there my friend wants to buy a del sol with a b16a however the owner claims it has a type r lsd gearbox how can we clarify that before purchasing it ... without oing a burnout.
plz help cheers!

Mate a burnout won't prove the diff is a LSD.
It's possible for both wheels to lock and spin or only
one wheel for both types of open vs LSD diffs.
also , spinning the wheel by hand while
the car is on a hoist isn't relevant either.

You need the outer serial number , and able to see clearly thru the diff housing hole ( where
the driveshafts both join and insert)

All non LSD b series gearboxes will have a bar across this diff housing. Noticeable when you look in the hole !

Same question. my friend is looking for a 2nd hand (refurbished) DC5 Type R gearbox. He's found many at various wreckers in all sorts of condition. Will he'd be looking for a particular serial number between non-LSD (base) and LSD (R) for a DC5

ended up having the lsd but the car is on revs for melisious damage so i decided not to buy the car becuase of the troubles i would have with resale
