just wondering dude, is that ur civic in ur avatar? if so, then why bother spending money on red rego plates, and groovy looking black rims? why not just run the lightest possible wheels for speed and handling? I think ppl bag out the "rice" factor too much.... as far as im concerned, "rice" is any aesthetic, non essential comestic application/addition to ur ride.... im more than happy to add rice to my car... providing it looks good and not too tacky...... :roll:

Eg. Stickers for parts you don't have, 4 Exhaust cans (yes I saw this at my Uni), Fake BOVs & Boost Controllers and guages

There's a difference between Rice and BAD TASTE mods. Eg. Altezza's, stupid colours (eg. bright pink paint jobs) and big chromies

Actually some show is always nice. 17" rims and lowered (yes lowering will give u better handling but how much ppl actually do this for the handling? To most the better handling is an added bonus)

rice - overused term, orginally invented in usa? by some school kid who was bored and started drawing a cartoon and named some cars rice - these cars has things such has tri-spoke 14" wheels, 15" high park bench spoiler and stickers such as ralliart on a nissan with fulli sik dodge viper racing stripes on a 1980 piece of c*ap... lol anyway... i would consider this as the offical rice.... its sorta changed now days tho, where people are just calling anything with a kit/wheels on it rice, whether it has a fully worked turbo engine or not... as soon as they have added something to make the car look a bit more appealing the word 'rice' comes up... i certainly do agree that there are ricey cars around (not mentioning any type) but yeh imo, i wouldnt say something with a simple addition to the exterior rice... its getting to the point where you see arguments about it in 9/10 threads.... gets boring when you read the same stuff over and over :D

anyway, not here to start an argument, just expressing my definition 8)

Rice came from the U.S. Many Asians owned Hondas and added stupid accessories to them, the rest of the people, many owning 6s and 8s then generalised these honduh racers as "rice-boys". Originally a degoratory and racist term, but now used for any race who puts stupid shit on their car :)

i agrree civics look great

but they are unbelieevalbe sub 2l peformance cars for an N/A

they handle like a cart with the right mods and go well with the right stuff

i would rather spend money on go fast bits then stereo and cosmetics

they were fast, so americans used the term rice rockets referring to the japanese motorcycles..

i dunno... more of a go person (even tho i cant really drive manual welll yet :oops: ) but yeh... i'm more into the "sleeper" kinda look... mildly modified with a front lip, color coding all round... unobtrusive rims...

in temrs of "show" however...does wanting a lot of induction and exhaust noise count ?
