I've recently had my radio lights turn extremely faint even tho the console lights work fine (e.g. air con lights are ok).. Been doing some searching on the forums and turns out this problem is quite common and the only solution seems to be a replacement of the entire radio (???)..

This just sounds excessive, expensive and unnecessary but I do want to get the problem fixed.. anyone got any recommendations on what i can do? My model is a late 03 and it was bought 2nd hand frm a dealer in feb so sadly its no longer under the mandatory 3 mth warranty..

If there really weren't any other solutions anyone know a cheap place to find spare parts (wreckers)?

thanks in advance

A member on this forum, Longers, has a wrecked euro and he is selling the radio unit. Asking price was about $650 from memory.
I havnt looked into this matter, but probably check with an auto electrician to see if anyting may be done?
