hey guys just wondering how much work goes into replacing the spark plugs on an 05 Euro, is it just as simple as popping off the coils and unscrewing or is there more to it?

thanks,

Mikey

thats pretty much it. hand tighten the plugs first to make sure u dont strip the threads otherwise u would be in a whole world of trouble.

Apply some anti-sieze on the threads and some dielectric grease on the ceramic part and you're good to go.

hey guys,

The anti sieze is for the bolt that holds the coil down right? not the actual plug?

The plug. The plug has threads that screw into the head.

yes but will the anti sieze prevent a grounding through the block?

No it won't.

What the f....

What is di electric grease and why would you put it on a spark plug?

contact grease for passing electricity helps give a better contact

Its not for "passing" electricity. Its usually used to shield electrical components and to mostly, keep moisture and corrosion causing contaminants out of sensitive elctrical components.

Dielectric grease is non conductive mate.

So as far as why you would put it on a spark plug, you smear it inside the coil boot to keep crap off the top of the plug, ensuring good connections which = good spark :)

depends on car you are referring too .. if Standard car then yes your overcharged but if the plugs are hard to get to like a van where the motor is tucked in .. the price is right .. takes longer and more work to do these vehicles

If its a K series then yeah pretty much that easy. Shroud off, coils off, plugs out and reverse.

Just remember to do it dead cold, and always use nickel antiseize on the threads of the plug, torque correctly.
