G'day guys,
as topic states. What would be the minimum size cable to run to my battery if I were to relocate to my boot? Multistrand flexible cable. What have people used in the past that works well ? Also when the battery has been relocated, is there a specific good location to earth out the negative terminal to the battery ?

Thanks in advance

Lyle

i would run minimum 4gauge but 2gauge would be alot better. For the earth make sure its bare metal and connect to the chassis, also make the wires as short as possible

Been using jaycar 0 gauge wire for the last 3 yrs. As for grounding, make sure its a good contact to the body. Ill run an additional ground to the motor, doesn't have to be as thick so like a 8/10 guage.

use 10mm building wire man hahah.
you have to have it in a box with good ventilation to it as well, and use a fuse as well. use a clamp meter to measure the amps at start up, and choose the right fuse from there i guess

pfft.. just go 10 pieces of 0.75mm multi-strand control cable ! ahah

Do you know if its mandatory to install a fuse? i mean the factory main supply cable does not have one...

if your relocating the battery, yes i would say its mandatory. cause the supply is further away, there's more of a chance for the cable to get damaged cause of the length. im pretty sure OEM uses a fuse, like 80amps isnt it?

I used 2 gauge in my EM1, bought from Jaycar.
